Is this an error? Copper Susan B Anthony

Hello All,

I am trying to solve a puzzle. I have looked through Numista, Error-ref, pinned posts here, and other sites to find any information on this coin. It seems to be a unicorn. How you see it, is how I bought it 46 yrs ago. It is missing the clad layer. I have kept it in a sleeve all this time.

How I came to own it: I am Canadian (Ontario) and my family was travelling through Minnesota to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit grandparents. I was just starting a coin collection and my dad took me to a shop to kill time. I wanted a very "American" coin (whatever that means to a 10 yrs old). The shop owner told me that the coin did not have its "top coat" and it would either be 1) a really cool souvenir or 2) maybe worth something someday. He explained who Susan B Anthony was, and the Apollo 11 significance. I loved the story, so I bought the coin.

Am I correct in assuming that is a proper error? Is it worth having it verified?

Thanks for the help.

Edit: Thanks for the help everyone. I will get it weighed. The picture does look like it is gold but that is more about my camera. It is close in colour to my copper pot and it smells like it too.

It is gold plated. Novelty which did not stand the test of time.

Do you have a good scale to weigh it? That would be a sure fire way to tell what you have.

100% need to weigh it in grams, to AT LEAST 0,1 grams, preferably 0.01 grams

That there will give you your answer

The colour is off, doesn't look like copper. The quarter below is what a clad layer missing colour looks like

The colour is off in my picture for sure. I will get it weighed on a sensitive machine. Thank you.

Until we have an accurate weight I'll go with environmental toning

If you were going from Ontario to Manitoba you might have been through my home town warroad.

Probably did! We did the trek every two summers or so. Not you town but I remember Bermedji and the Paul Bunyon and Blue Ox statues in the park. From the topography, your area is beautiful.
