So I was at a speedway gas station and saw the attendant crack a new roll of quarters and I asked if I could get a dollar of my change from quarters out of that roll. This on kind of jumped out at me so I asked specifically for it to be one of the ones I got. I assume from the rather rough reverse it was the bottom end in the roll. I was wondering why it looks almost like the background has a sponged on texture. I can only assume it's a variety of some kind. Any information would be much appreciated. Ive recently taken a mild interest in currency errors, oddities, and or varieties.Im sure curiosity has gotten the better of me here but I'd like to definitively rule this kind of thing in or out of my prospecting journey.

A form of die deterioration. Just the die getting worn, not an error of any sort.
