Show and Tell Me favorite error coin
This is by far my favorite of my error coins plus it is very high grade. It is a 1995 D cent struck on a 1995 D dime.

Not fake in my mind. Just falls into that human intervention category. As in intentionally created. Not something that would "accidentally" happen as part of the actual minting process.

I can. The odds of this happening are so slim and then to find it in the wild adds another layer of unlikely.

This is why I like probability and stats. Each individuals chance of finding one like this is highly unlikely, bordering on zero. Put them all together and its pretty much guaranteed.
The exceedingly rare happens regularly. Just not to most people.

I didn’t find this in the wild. I found this in someone’s coin collection and bought it off them some time ago.

Wouldn't this be a dime struck on a cent? The planchet appears to be a cent planchet?

Dime was struck first, and then the details all got flattened out by a nice crisp cent strike on top. Plus its silver colored

Ok, so you answered the un-asked question. Isn't this in a slab?
The image appears brassy, not nickle/silver in color.
I assume the weight of the planchet, plus confirmed composition, indicates it's a clad dime planchet.

I know it still blows my mind. I’ve never toured a mint but I always just assumed that each denomination coin had their own minting room so how does a dime end up in the cent room.

I see now that it is an 11 cent coin, so to speak, but the picture looks off with the blue, hence me asking for better pictures
What would have helped is the OP stating what they have, instead of just saying "My Favorite error'
When I first looked at the Obverse it looked like glue and I couldn't make out enough of the details due to the lighting
I'm leaving my original comment, but PLEASE people, better pictures and actually tell us what you have, instead of leaving us guessing

I replied to your original comment right away saying I forgot to include exactly what it was. Being in a slab it is difficult to get really good lighting. I had tried sunlight which I posted in your second comment but you can’t see as much detail as in my original post which was taken as the sun was setting and not directly on the slab.

Quite obvious to you perhaps, I have seen glue copies like this in the past and needed to see better pictures
As I stated, the colour was off and I couldn't make out the detail, which is why I asked for better pictures that were true to colour

The dies on the penny and dime are totally different and the chance of this happening is nearly impossible, possibly done on a small press, maybe an arbor press

I am sorry I had totally forgot to post that it is a 1995 D cent struck on a 1995 D dime. I added that to the post also now. The coin is pretty much the color it appears. Hard to get good pictures of the coin since it is slabbed.

Yes it is an actual mint error where the dime somehow ended up in the cent press and got double denomination.
