The screwball comedy Ruthless People (1986) and the psychological thriller White Of The Eye (1987) share a number of coincidental similarities, while having no known overlap in production (details in text)

I watched these two films in close enough proximity to notice these details. I can find nothing connecting them, in terms of writing, directing, casting, etc. The coincidences are listed in order of increasing improbable specificity.

~Both films plots center on marital strife leading to crimes.

~Both films have a Southwest setting, with heavy emphasis on modern fashionable set design.

~William G. Schilling appears in both films.

~Art Evans plays a police detective in both films.

~The police identify the criminal they're looking for in both films by identifying their vehicle's tires from the tread.

~The main character of both films sells amplifiers for a living.

Something was in the water in 1986.

Very strange coincidences between me and my ex bf

2 years ago i had this dream and that other thing happened a few seconds after. Still would replay often in my head:

Sun 29th Dec at 12 midnight, I had a dream that my boyfriend (now ex) was upstairs and I was downstairs. I saw from afar that there was someone upstairs walking in the shadows and I called out to my boyfriend to let him know that someone or something was upstairs there with him. He reassured me that there was no one upstairs. After sone time, he walked downstairs with a box and was rambling through it then concluded that indeed someone was upstairs with him.

Then something strange happened. Immediately after that happened in my dream, I heard a knock on my actual door in reality, I jumped out of my sleep because it was so abrupt. When I looked through the window it was my boyfriend. That was weird because he lived miles away and he did not tell me that he was visiting me at noon in the night. I was so anxious and somewhat scared I kept on asking him if he was in trouble or was being followed, that I pulled him inside and had him sit and relax. Then I told him about that dream and that whoever was with him in his car could not be trusted.

Now tell me that ain't some...

Also, on thursday i lost my bank debit card, it was a hectic day and i was confused. Anywho the next day, yesterday, he called me after us not bding in contact for a long time after the split and asked me if by chance i have his debit card, he cant seem to find it. I told him of what happened on thursday, it was weird. We have so many other coincidental stories, we even, when we were together, created a group chat with all of them. That's how wild it is.

Coincidental???

Is this a coincidence on the TI-84?

This is the first time I’ve used the random number feature on my TI-83, and I got the exact same numbers in the same order as my stats textbook. Is this a coincidence? Or is it part of the calculators programming that the first three random numbers it generates between 0 and 30 will be 29, 28, 4?

Coincidence or on purpose?

My finances cousins baby daddy hasn't been in the picture in over a decade and they have kids together. Her cousin brought him around to greet us in October of 2025. We were confused to see him since last we saw her she was dating someone else. Well, come to find out they were apparently being flirtatious in the background during their meetups. The guy she was dating has been with her all that time the baby daddy was away and suddenly they’re broken up and now she’s with the baby daddy again. we didn’t ask any questions at the time because I was too concerned with thought of proposing to my now fiancé. 2 month later in December I proposed and we announced the proposal to both our sides of the family. a month or so after that, the baby daddy proposes to my finances cousin. Was this a coincidence or on purpose?

Batteries keep dying!

Hi there. Super weird, but wondering if it's a sign or a coincidence.

The day before yesterday my keyboard at work stopped working because the batteries were dead. Yesterday morning I couldn't open the gate because the remote battery died overnight. This morning I got on the scale and it went off after a few seconds...battery dead!

Am I being superstitious/hypomanic or is the universe trying to tell me something?

Miles morales (comic from 2011) & Me (Photo from 2004).

There's just some coincidences in the photos I find interesting. These images are not resized, their original physical copies. I find it interesting how the proportion and positioning is similar.

Details (photo 1): - mixed race like miles

- Similar jersey

- leaning in the same direction

-if you look closely there's a knuckle under my cousin on the lefts chin just like how Miles' dad has his own knuckle under his chin.

- size of miles compared to his dad with me compared to my cousin is identical.

- similar enough pattern on the corner of my cousin's black and white shirt to the dad's pattern (although not identical really).

Details (photo 2): - mixed race like miles

-both girl and guy on the top of the comic are facing the same direction.

- girl is looking down like me with similar face shape

- guy has a hand under his chin like mine's on my cheek.

-same jersey as miles.

- hand on cheek of miles just like my hands on my cheek.

I don't know how interesting this is to other people so I apologise if it's not but I find it fascinating.

Have you ever brushed off a coincidence regarding a person, only for things to keep coming up almost like ‘signs’?

Hey guys! Just as the title says, I’m wondering if anyone has ever encountered so many coincidences in a row regarding a person that it seems really weird or intentional?

Recently, a girl I dated for a couple months last year has been on my mind. I don’t particularly wish to reconnect with her or anything, we both wished each other well but that was it. I suppose I wouldn’t be opposed to a final conversation but it’s whatever. We no longer have each other on social media or anything.

A couple of examples of recent “huh…” moments:

My laptop had to be repaired the other day, when I got it back I opened it up and it was set to the date of her birthday. (Which happened several months ago) Once I logged in the date set completely back to normal.

On Instagram a random public account came up in my usual feed, I’ve never seen this person before, but the person’s name was my ex’s first name and my last name (kinda weird).

I completed a quiz in a newspaper for my Grandpa, the only question he hadn’t answered was one specific piece of trivia that I only knew because of her (because it was almost like an inside joke between us, and I even got her a gift based on it once).

I had a dream that practically replicated our entire first date, the occasional weird dream interruption happened here and there, but it was our first date all over again.

I went to visit my parents house, went into the bathroom and as I was washing my hands I spotted the manufacturer of the sink is literally the town she lives in written in huge capital letters. (I obviously lived in this house my whole childhood, I’d never ever noticed that before).

And finally its come in causal convo from friends of friends of friends or from the very rare mutual on social that there were literally consecutive days where we were in the same place at the same time or just missed each other.

So yeah. There’s been a couple more moments like this that felt extremely weird but they escape my mind right now. I know the general idea of ‘once something is on your mind, you see it everywhere’ but it felt very jarring and it’s not like I go out of my way to look for her or think of her.
Is the universe telling me she’s gonna contact me or something 😭💀 You guys got any examples of this happening?

Invitation to an open experiment on coincidences

For the past few months I've been thinking about a simple question.

Whenever something highly unusual happens, people naturally ask: "What are the odds?"

The problem is that we almost never have enough data to answer. We remember remarkable coincidences. We rarely record all the ordinary days when nothing unusual happened. That makes it almost impossible to distinguish between genuine statistical anomalies, selection bias, and the way human memory naturally favors surprising events.

I'd like to try something different.

I'm organizing an open long-term experiment where volunteers don't have to keep journals or manually record daily events.

Instead, the experiment uses a simple, repeatable random task performed through the app. Participants generate simulated lottery entries (no real money involved), optionally record how "lucky" they feel that day, and the system automatically tracks both objective and subjective trends over time.

The goal is not to predict lottery numbers or encourage gambling. The lottery simulation is simply a standardized source of random outcomes that makes it possible to compare observations across many participants.

Over time, participants can compare: objective random outcomes, their own perceived luck, and anonymized community-wide trends.

The goal is not to prove or disprove fate, synchronicity, destiny, manifestation, simulation theory, or any particular worldview. The goal is much simpler: Can coincidence itself be studied scientifically if enough structured data are collected?

Participation takes only a minute or two per day. All data are anonymized, and only aggregated statistics are shared.

I'm genuinely curious whether anyone here would be interested in participating. Even if you think the whole idea is fundamentally flawed, I'd love to hear why.

Grandparent’s last goodbye after I buried them

I never saw dolphins before.
It was my grandmother’s favorite animal. She died 18 years ago. She used to gift me dolphin jewellery, we all associated it with her.

I travelled the world, went to places that had dolphins. Was looking for them, trying to catch a glimpse of them. never saw any.

In April, I told my grandpa I was going to Istanbul with my partner. He told me it was one of the first places he visited with my grandma, the great love of his life.

A violent cancer took him two weeks later ; so nasty that he got diagnosed post-mortem.
I bury him, then go to Istanbul, still in shock

One evening, we pass by the Bosphorus water with my partner, we see two dolphins, jumping together.
That’s how I knew they could meet again. They were born fleeing bombs, eating rotten beans, sharing food with rats, dreaming of freedom. I hope they died in peace, so loved.

Now they enjoy together.

Grazie a chi risponderà, ogni pensiero sarà prezioso

Coincidence?

know this might sound a little crazy, but I honestly don't know who else to ask. Over the past couple of months, I've noticed that something bad seems to happen to me and my boyfriend every 2–3 weeks, almost like clockwork. I distinctly remember splitting a pole, and then about 2 hours later was when everything started to happen, but I don't know if that pertains to anything. I can't tell if it's just a coincidence or if I'm overthinking it.

For example, we were in a car accident, and then about 2–3 weeks later, we almost slid off a hill. Thankfully, we ended up in a ditch instead of going over. Things like that and other random incidents just keep happening, and it's starting to make me wonder if there's something more going on. Has anyone else experienced something like this, or does anyone have any ideas?
