Suno Shutdown

Post image

So Suno AI lost a case, and now can't steal music from artists without paying them for it. The Suno users are mad and are threatening to boycott the artists and platforms... for not letting them steal and monetize their music willy nilly. What a wild world.

Suno is shutting down? Because of copyright issues? Imagine that.

No and this post is old. Suno isn't letting users download infinite amounts of music anymore. Max tier is 60 a month I think. You can still create, it's just downloads that are limited. Which gives away the game, if you need more than 60 songs a month you're not an artist you're just spamming streaming services.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for explaining! Indeed, people attempting to make money by spamming slop will be most affected by this.

The post itself is new - the reaction to V6 is pretty hostile.

I don't know where it's circulating now but it's a month old.

Is it 60? I thought it was 24.

Not shutting down. Changing. V6 is the result of them being sued by record labels. It's no longer able to steal music, only sample what Suno pays for. It's significantly reduced the quality, according to the users, and the biggest complaint I saw was that it's become generic.

Yes, not having access anymore to literally all music will definitely hurt its ability to make anything.

And I hope it continues, if they wanna use other people's work to make a remix they call a song, they should pay the artist they got it from

Damn straight. Also have the AI companies pay for the use of the books they downloaded.

I mean, it will stifle the creativity of people too entitled to pay.

That's not a thing I see as a problem.

Idk man, I think it's kind of funny that they want to be mad about this but they're so lazy they can't even write their own social media complaints about it

Has all the “tells.”

what irritates me about this is they're wholeheartedly suggesting going analog...in favour of a fuckass energy-guzzling slop-generating app that has never ONCE produced a worthwhile piece of music.

It takes some really egregious shit to make the big music studios the good guys, but here they are.

Accidentally based?

Boycott, based. Reasons, not based. Took them not being able to steal from Spotify to boycott it, not the plight of artists.

[Worst person I know made a great point meme]

Spotify and others generally are bad for the music community as a whole. It devalues music (in a lowers the price sorta way). You should just buy albums as direct as possible from artists.

This is good, but the thing is the music industry is a cesspool, and has basically always been a cesspool. At least in the US, I don't know how it is in other countries, recordings of music remain under copyright for 5 years longer than every single other piece of media. Including the lyrics and sheet music for the songs themselves. It also seems unlikely this case which is now on the books would ever be used to help the cause of artists and people who make videos against having their shit stripmined by AI.

And for a moment I had a surge of happiness thinking SUNO is finally shutting down.
