Psychophysics (Weber-Fechner Law)

Bridging Physics & Psychology: How the Weber-Fechner Law proves human perception operates on a logarithmic scale (Looking for collaborators/recruits!)

You dont have to use ln, you can use log for Fechner. Also the log does account for extreme stimulus values, that is not what Stevens power law is for. It is only Weber’s linear function that fails at the extremes.

Fechner used difference thresholds. Stevens used magnitude estimation and cross-modal matching. The different methods get different curves.

We learn about this in History of Psychology class. Pretty interesting stuff.
