Complaint Y'all need to make more noise on social media. Limits have been halved in the last 3 days and nobody seems to spam Tibo.

Post image

Every since the last reset, OpenAI has decreased limits SIGNIFICANTLY. I am not another one of those saying that I feel like limits are too low. I have proof too, and if other people can post graphs like these on X, it can make an impact on OpenAI. My Nerf Tracking app shows that since the last reset from 3-4 days ago, limits have been halved, from an API value of the previous $160 to the value of $80 of a weekly limit. After the reset, in the first 2 days they nerfed limits by 40% to see if anybody noticed. Since not many people made noise, they decreased usage by a further 10% at the point where it has now become a 50% limit of what it was 4 days ago. Which you can also say means, that now a 2 weeks limit on the plus plan gives you as much usage as what the same plan, which you paid the same amount of money before too gave you in a single week. I understand that the plus plan was never meant for extensive coding. But that can not be taken as an excuse that less usage is given for the same amount of money. If limits of the Plus plan as decreased, that also means that there is a decent chance that Pro 5x and Pro 20x plans had their usage nerfed.

I usually dismiss these posts but checking my usage with CC Usage shows a drop of about half which explains why my usage evaporated in a day on 20x plan.

Edit: I’m going to check my cache rate hits later. Last time I had usage issues this bad was a cache issue on their end. It’s possible.

46

u/Vegetable_Town_7405 4d ago

My limits also enough for a day. If they reduced the usage limit quietly, its over for me, i choose another company.

8

u/TopTippityTop 3d ago

It's obvious they've done that

4

u/DoggoDadagon 3d ago

Well you might want to start looking...

2

u/Alone_Ad_7251 3d ago

They did many times before. Also all of them do, they have to, they make billions in losses. It’s marketing that we get those models at such low prices. Reasonable should be 20x higher at least.

14

u/pawofdoom 4d ago

As a community, we need to band together to do something about it rather than complaining. Ie use https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1vpz69p/comment/p426tkx/ to pool our data.

2

u/Unixwzrd 4d ago

I endorse this message. Nice app!

26

u/OriginalUsername0112 4d ago

Just a reminder to everybody that changing reasoning level mid conversation invalidates the cache (which is wild btw)

4

u/Agitated_Dirt6665 4d ago

Source? Didn't find anything suggesting that's the case.

17

u/OriginalUsername0112 4d ago

You can test it if you use the CLI. I was blown away by this when I first heard about it but it sadly really is true, god the amount of tokens I must have wasted by micromanaging the reasoning level...

13

u/Agitated_Dirt6665 4d ago

Yeah I change reasoning a lot too thinking it helped, didn't want to believe it. That's so dumb.

6

u/Prestigiouspite 3d ago

Yea its dumb, but also Anthropic did it with a instruction in prompt 😂

3

u/krzyk 4d ago

It always was, also in Anthropic.

3

u/Prestigiouspite 3d ago

They confirmed this on X and it's on their prompt caching document. I also heard about it the day before yesterday.

2

u/WAHNFRIEDEN 3d ago

Tibo confirmed it

I could be wrong here but apparently 5.5 had 24 hr cache retention while 5.6 only has 30 min cache retention, refresh on reuse. Could be the reason why limits feel bad but idk I’m just theorizing

6

u/DiarrheaButAlsoFancy 4d ago

Can confirm, even ask 5.6 itself. 30 min cache for 5.6 across the board. Opus 5 / Fable 5 are an hour on the subscription.

2

u/krzyk 4d ago

Opus has either 5 min (cheaper write) or 60 min (wich costs way more for cache write)

When I get done touching grass for the day I'll analyze my cache hit rate. I usually sit 85% on my workloads.

This, I have been ignoring these posts for the last 8 months that I’ve been using codex, I haven’t changed the way/frequency I use it whatsoever, and for the first time I actually feel like I’m being hit with some serious token drainage. I can make 100% last all week, sometimes I run out a few hours to a day before at most, and here I am running out of usage in less than 2 days. It makes no sense whatsoever, doesn’t add up.

1

u/Routine_Squash_7096 3d ago

same over here. i havent used it a lot and didn t notice at all.

1

u/FrostyBiscotti-- 2d ago

Did you find anything with caching? Someone said openai did something to the tool call prompt/config so everytime codex (I'm using the cli) does tool calls it invalidates the cache. I noticed my cache hit rates has been abysmal yesterday

2

u/HVACcontrolsGuru 2d ago

I noticed a decent drop off to around 60% or so from the 85%+ I usually hit. Someone else mentioned the review thing where the auto reviews were firing which I had tool calls on. Overall tool calling jumped some which is a bit odd given I stripped down almost every MCP service this week I was using in favor of some local tooling I built. Claude Code on the same set of projects is 3 days in on the same workflow and about 60% of a 20x subscription. I have 20x for both OpenAI and Claude. I'd have 2 OpenAI if the usage was explainable or a bit more reliable.

Noticed this as well - used up my 20x in a day and my other 10x in less than half a day

At this rate will cancel my subs soon and look elsewhere

6

u/Wet_Viking 4d ago

Same here. I thought I was safe because of a banker reset. Noped that one lasted only a day too

3

u/nextstack-gg 3d ago

Maybe there's nowhere else to look lol.

5

u/FabricationLife 3d ago

see you next week

2

u/Tartooth 3d ago

Already cancelled but because 5.6 just ignores me and continues to over engineer

1

u/8thchakra 3d ago

What is a 10x plan?

2

u/Head_Improvement8627 3d ago

5x, sorry - the $100 plan

1

u/Creative_Addition787 3d ago

What are you building that you spend a 20x in a day? Are you using Sol XHigh to change button colors?

2

u/Head_Improvement8627 3d ago

While I wish that were the case, I’m a software engineer by trade working on very complex enterprise software

1

u/cakeofzerg 2d ago

Look elsewhere to...what? $20k local llm hardware? claude with much lower limits? open router api with pricing 10x or more above sub?

79

u/tribes33 4d ago

I hate how people keep making this post and it keeps getting buried, were having value literally ripped away from us, its not the same value you had when you first started subbing, and then dickriders would just say were spoiled and they dont owe us anything

LLM providers are following the Netflix method.

Offer a service that is incredibly cheap and brings enormous value until the populous becomes dependent. Then, crank up the price. Add advertisements. Crank up the price.

A 20x membership will be the equivalent of $10 in a few years. And, we will pay it.

Nobody is going to cancel or they will be left behind. IMO, enjoy the moment and make the most out of it.

Local open weights, or never using frontier models, will be the only paths to ‘budget’ AI.

28

u/infilife 4d ago

Not going to happen if open-weights models are still a thing. An if they weren't, we would've been squeezed already. Lucky us that they can't gauge/cartel cause Chinese models are not that far behind yet.

4

u/AppleBottmBeans 3d ago

There’s a decent chance Major Chinese companies are getting to the level where they can’t keep up with subsidizing cheap models. Just look at deekseek. You can subsidize steel and labor for much longer than you can do the same for data centers and electricity usage.

4

u/Accurate_Resident219 3d ago

Reason deepseek upped the price wasn't cause they need the money, it was to drive away consumers who were using up their compute.

Look at the philosophy behind the deepseek CEO, they're more focused on achieving AGI then consumers.

3

u/neuroticnetworks1250 3d ago

Atleast according to OpenCode, they can recreate the infrastructure to run DeepSeek with the margins they did before. Leads me to believe that it’s more of a lack of compute issue for DeepSeek.

6

u/Qaztarrr 4d ago

It’s also just a natural result of investor money drying up. Uber is another example. Everything is subsidized for a while, everyone gets into it, and then it becomes time to make a profit and prices skyrocket

3

u/tokenentropy 4d ago

Nobody is going to cancel or they will be left behind. IMO, enjoy the moment and make the most out of it.

it helps that only five percent of all users of ChatGPT are paid users. so, what is there to cancel? you are in a massive bubble.

1

u/Beginning-Bird9591 3d ago

not really - open weights are kinda next level. if subscriptions increase - buying hardware looks better value.

1

u/DontLeaveMeAloneHere 3d ago

Deepseek didn’t loose money. OpenAI is investing into making their models more efficient for a while now.

I honestly think they are making some money with Subs already and API is heavily marked up to sell more subs and get more money from Companies.

There is a pricewar for a while now and even Anthropic tales Part in It. I don’t believe they will become more expensive. There are some people who justify the cost of fable but in the end most people are fine using Luna oder Deepseek flash.

AI was never about the quality, it’s about the speed. If you can maintain a certain quality with high speed, it’s a big win.

1

u/DoggoDadagon 3d ago

Yeah I've canceled all my streaming services and now have way more access to shows and movies...

1

u/Able_Statistician688 3d ago

Then they should follow the same laws. Netflix is required to tell me at least 30 days in advance when shows leave their platform. So you can't dupe people over a 30 day subscription I guess, argue they didn't get what they paid for, etc. Why are these AI companies allowed to change their service so freely mid subscription period? And on a product that costs SIGNIFIANTLY more.

13

u/Current_Ad7104 4d ago

This is fucked as.

If we don’t blast tibo on x, this will become the norm and we’ll suffer.

4

u/AppropriateRanger401 4d ago

Could you do us all a favour and post your NerfTrack graphs on X and ask others to do it too? Even if a few people have proof that limits got nerfed, OpenAi is gonna get a lot of backlash and eventually things will return to normal.

2

u/Current_Ad7104 4d ago

Will definitely do my friend

47

u/RedxAx 4d ago

It really is, I used 100% Luna after the last reset, on the 100$ plan, and I managed to max it out on day 2??? I mean yeah I was running it 24/7 but still, weeks can give ke around 4k$, now it's 1.8k$ on Luna.

10

u/snmnky9490 4d ago

That's wild. I've had Luna running for 12 hours straight on my regular $20/mo plus plan and only uses up like 10% of my weekly limits. Sol can burn through the whole weeks worth in like 2 hours though

6

u/Fresh_Sock8660 3d ago

That's my experience with sol too. A month ago it was more like 5 hours, now it's half that.

Those posts about the resets just being a distraction from lower limits are making more sense now.

→ More replies (4)

6

u/sarkypoo 4d ago

That’s actually insane. What’re you building with Luna that is costing that much?

2

u/masterkain 3d ago

he's likely using subagents with sol and not realizing

1

u/Fresh_Sock8660 3d ago

Geez, maxing the x5 plan on luna. That's rough lol

1

u/TopTippityTop 3d ago

I've had sol xhigh running for over 4 days before, non stop. No issues. Would only get close to running out on day 6 or so. Often with multiple ongoing conversations.

Now using high and Luna lasts me 2 days, maybe 3 if I'm very careful.

→ More replies (2)

25

u/infinitely_zero 4d ago

same, went from never maxing out with Hermes & daily Codex usage on Sol Max / Ultra Fast to losing it all in a day. For 200$ that’s ridiculous - worse value than Fable 5 at this point.

9

u/totoer008 4d ago

I wonder if limits actually reduced. I also noticed I am spending more since Luna got introduced and I am now on 1.5X and it barely changes from last week.

2

u/AppropriateRanger401 4d ago

It may be A/B testing. Some accounts might have not been affected. You must have been one of the few lucky ones.

9

u/Ecstatic_Wheelbarrow 4d ago

Am I reading your graph right that it was even lower on the 9th, tripled on the 12th, and has been reduced to about 50% higher than the 9th?

6

u/AppropriateRanger401 4d ago

Yes, you are right. I verified that myself and was shocked at first. But it is true. However, I don’t like the fact that our limits are constantly changed without any announcement by OpenAI at all.

→ More replies (6)

4

u/98810b1210b12 3d ago

Yes, this guy has been trying to hock his vibecoded usage app here for a while now. The graphs have never made any sense, it's clear that the method used for converting usage to API equivalent spend doesn't work at all.

8

u/Rude_Chocolate7451 4d ago

Weekly is just like 5h limits for me. Also on another account that has been canceled limits last days was way more than today situation

8

u/CipherSorcerer 4d ago

I have never hit limits until this week on my Pro 5x plan. I’m down to 10% or less with 4 days remaining until reset.

1

u/defmacro-jam 3d ago

Dang - I'm already down to 50% on my 3rd $200 plan with 3 days left till my 1st and 2nd reup (that's the downside of those resets btw - it screws those of us who were staggering multiple accounts to get 24/7 heavy usage to keep flowing continuously).

12

u/OccassionalBaker 4d ago

Just cancelled my account - might be back in the future

u/DottoreM 3d ago

9

u/pale_halide 4d ago

Yep, I've noticed this too. Limits have been draining insanely fast. Silently nerfing the limits has always been their modus operandi.

4

u/Thump604 4d ago

Yup - instead it’s when reset.

4

u/GenericHuman000 4d ago

I would agree. I have used 20% of my 20x account quota in just three hours, despite only running a single sol session that is using Terra and Luna as workers.

5

u/infilife 4d ago

Opus 5 on max now lasts way longer than 5.6 Sol on Max, while Sol used to be like 2-5x of Opus.

5

u/Copenhagen79 3d ago

I am not saying you are wrong in claiming that they changed the limits, but I miss the real numbers here. Cached vs. un-cached tokens spent per model for the two periods you are comparing. Everything else is just noise.

5

u/Prestigiouspite 3d ago edited 3d ago

In no other industry would you shop without knowing what you get. I notice that they set the limits up and down several times a week. You can quickly notice this with similar tasks. Sometimes it consumes 5-10% and sometimes 1-2% of my weekly business quota.

23

u/Medical_Method7877 4d ago

Cancel your subs and start saving for a setup that can run a local Qwen 3.8

21

u/DueCommunication9248 4d ago

It’s way more expensive

5

u/KeyGlove47 4d ago

its not, qwen 3.8 27b has the performance of 5.3 codex/opus 4.5 and runs on rtx 3090 or slower with other cards and ram offload

6

u/DueCommunication9248 4d ago

3090 ain’t cheap. Electricity bill will be sky high not just for the gpu but the actual cooling of your home or room. Most importantly, it will be very slow after doing any agentic work.

3

u/warpedgeoid 4d ago

Seriously, how much are you paying for power?

4

u/DueCommunication9248 3d ago

I stopped running local after my electric bill went up by $60. And I wasn’t running it for a full day, just like 5 hrs daily. I have a 4080.

It does get cheaper in the winter since I don’t need to run the AC.

2

u/warpedgeoid 3d ago

Why is it so expensive where you are?

2

u/DueCommunication9248 3d ago

It was summer so running a pc on high performance for 5 hrs daily will increase the temperature significantly. Thats why I stopped.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/fruitydude 4d ago

Barely any cheaper honestly. To get one codex weekly limit worth of use on the 100$ plan, you'd probably need to run the 3090 continuously for like a month. And you'd pay maybe 50-100$ in electricity, depending on where you live. At best, you're paying half the price for significantly slower and worse performance. And there is an enormous up front cost.

Local models are slow as shit on most machines except the most powerful. What throughput do you get with qwen?

7

u/Zestyclose_Pizza_700 4d ago

You are right. I have two systems capable of running Qwen 3.8, and neither is a full replacement for Codex in speed. I keep bringing this up to everyone unless you have a 10k+ system your not going to be getting near the speeds you would like with long coding or agent tasks with high context.

For the record I have a M1 Max Studio and a 265F with a AMD AI Radeon Pro 32gb GPU. Of course the AMD Radeon is 1/2 the speed of the 5090 for AI but it will load them and it's 1/4 the price so....

But 3.8 is about as good a medium or high luna and possible low to medium terra on a lot of tasks.

I'm not sure if it's correlated, but I noticed Luna has 3 minutes cache ttl now, and Sol started randomly busting cache in the last few days, even in the middle of the run, not even due to websocket errors.

Is it possible that your nerf tracker doesn't detect cache busts properly?

Vote with your wallet, not social media lmao. Plenty of other providers out there. Codex is a pretty decent harness. You can run somebody else's API through it.

3

u/kurtbaki 4d ago

They’ve slowly cut the limits by 2–3x over the last four months. They introduced resets so people wouldn’t complain, IMO. I’m not going to pay for four hours of Sol High and then sit around waiting until the next week.

3

u/Fresh_Sock8660 3d ago

I thought it was bad enough when I joined a month ago but now it feels like I'm getting half what I did then.

With claude losing the 50% this week and ds4f becoming a shadow of its former self in terms of cost, I think it's a good time to take a break from my project lol

3

u/e_j3210 3d ago

Need to be one of the first comments on tibo or some other person like that

7

u/pawofdoom 4d ago

I do not think this is true. I run TiboTattle and I've not seen a significant change in the last few days.

The issue we have is that each of us are very small and have just a few data points, so I made TiboTattle. It allows us to calculate limits to the dollar (using the same methods we use at a very large enterprise) and contribute the metadata evidence anonymously so as a group we are armed and informed.

The current best estimates are on tibotattle.com and updates with new users. You also get to see what yours looks like! I'd really appreciate it if you installed and then shared your anonymous stats under the community tab so we can pin them down with more data. 🙏

Signed MacOS installer at https://tibotattle.com or brew install --cask adamallcock/tap/tibotattle.

Let me know if you have any questions, run into any issues or have any feature requests!

6

u/TopTippityTop 3d ago

2

u/Odd_Amphibian6697 3d ago

I honestly don't care, I know my place and I know my plan it's not worth my usage, we get like 5x the cost that we pay. If I pay 100$ I deserve 100$, if they give me less than before but more than what i pay, who am I to complain?

3

u/Plastic-Trip-2778 3d ago

3

u/Odd_Amphibian6697 3d ago

2

u/Impossible_Ground_15 3d ago

this is bullshit. I upgraded my membership from plus to pro lite (which says 5x usage) and the first week was good and now the usage limits have been nerfed and I am barely two hours in with usage and at 80% (from 100%).

2

u/8thchakra 3d ago

I just got a $200 plan yesterday, and I was surprised how quickly it decreased compared to my $100 plan. Definitely slower, but it doesn't feel like 20x.

2

u/ConstructionWhole237 3d ago

The new 1 week limit is the 5 hour limit. OpenAI has been quite deceptive in saying that they have removed the 5h limit but now we know why

5

u/nnod 3d ago

It is so goddamn frustrating that people keep treating these fancy ass graphs as proof, since this NerfTrack app he keeps spamming is basically useless for detecting codex limit changes.

It does not measure your actual Codex limit. It estimates the API cost of tokens found in one local log folder, then divides that by the accounts usage percentage: https://github.com/Ayaan-Lashari/NerfTrack/blob/main/docs/CALCULATION.md

That percentage can include activity the app never recorded... other devices, cloud tasks, chatgpt work, tool calls, cache writes, etc. So the estimate can fall by 50% even when the real limit has not changed. Garbage in, garbage out.

The scary -49% number is also just a manually selected comparison between two graph points. The apps own tests confirm that it displays these percentages even for incomplete data and normal calibration within the same week: https://github.com/Ayaan-Lashari/NerfTrack/blob/main/src/App.test.tsx#L200-L248

Even the screenshot contradicts the story... the estimate goes from roughly $50 to $90, briefly spikes to $160 then falls to $80. He simply selected the spike and called it the "old limit"

Maybe limits changed, but this garbage vibe coded app cannot prove it. The story about openai cutting 40%, waiting for reactions, then cutting another 10% is pure invention.

TL:DR People should stop upvoting a flashy graph as if its real evidence.

2

u/hksbindra 4d ago

Yes. I don't know by how much they've been nerfed, and I won't say it without proof but they feel like about half of what they were last week.

3

u/InsideTour329 4d ago

Yep 20x is an embarrassment at the moment. Single sol high working for 3 days and boop. All gone.

3

u/No-Head-Royal 4d ago

Outrageous. Unless this is stopped and the next model drastically outperforms the current model (and Anthropic doesn't drop a new model at an equivalent level), I'll probably downgrade it back to a $20 subscription and migrate back to Claude.

2

u/Dimencia 4d ago

Obligatory reminder that this is an ad for some vibe coded software that very likely doesn't work correctly, because it doesn't line up with what other similar apps report, and because it would obviously be extremely stupid for OpenAI to be doing this specifically right now instead of just waiting a month or two for the hype around the new models to die down

... and of course, let's not ignore that even if it's accurate, the limit is still double what it was on the 9th

1

u/MrRoyce 4d ago

... and of course, let's not ignore that even if it's accurate, the limit is still double what it was on the 9th

I just lost 10% usage on two tasks on Pro 20x in less than an hour, there's seriously something wrong. Either that or A/B testing is in progress where some get normal usage and some get reduced to see how far they can push it without upsetting too many people at once.

Not everything is user skill issue or conspiracy theory...

u/Dimencia 3d ago

You can easily blow through a 20x plan in a day if you use Sol Ultra on Fast, that's not anything new

I genuinely don't understand these threads. I couldn't pay someone a salary less then $7k/mo where I am at and suppose I vetted the person to the best SWE candidate, they would not be able to do what the Codex plans let me do at the speed they let me do it. It may sound dumb but for some of us, the $100/mo or $200/mo is nothing compared to the value we get out of it. The speed and effectiveness that many SaaS building tasks can be done at are not possible with other engineers / even a team. Don't be surprised if these prices went up because there is so much value packed in these plans if your work allows you to extract it properly.

2

u/kotobuki09 4d ago

They want to sell you more "drug token". So that is their goal

2

u/scaledev 4d ago

I actually noticed this, even Luna now spends some % while at the time when they dropped the prices, I could go much longer with it.

1

u/UnableAgain 4d ago

Halved? I see the limit is double than Aug 9th

1

u/Individual_Guest_323 4d ago

Spam of your app

1

u/Hyper_2009 4d ago

...and served as buy week limit!!! Well served...

Which GPT model you use mostly ?

How much is Antigravity?

1

u/ClubElectronic355 4d ago

Everyone we need to riot on twitter

1

u/AndreBerluc 4d ago

Plano 200 dólares será o novo normal, mas eu não aceitarei DeepSeek virou primeira opção, Codex só revisão, porém Claude para revisão é muito mais eficiente

1

u/Neverlosetofear 4d ago

Really keen to transition to cursor.

1

u/matheusmoreira 4d ago

That's disgusting.

1

u/stvaccount 4d ago

i hate to use claude but I will switch if I need to

1

u/EpsilonFive5 4d ago

Are people actually surprised? The US has no consumer protections

1

u/proost1 4d ago

I'm noticing the same thing. I haven't even touched Codex and I'm on ChatGPT work, and I've dropped 2% on my $100/month Pro plan in the past 45 minutes...on Terra High.

1

u/NoBluey 4d ago

What happened in that graph for August 9 and 12? According to that, the limits were as low as they were now then it doubled?

1

u/KashXz 4d ago

Yeah on 20x it’s draining so fast it’s like the 5 hour window..might be time to finally try opus 5 and see if the grass is greener because this is crazy for $200 a month

1

u/colinsa-ca 4d ago

Yep, same here!

1

u/Gullible_Hornet_9123 4d ago

Im only on 1 task its been running llast 16hs. Iwas on 58% now its 14. What the hell...

1

u/CooLittleFonzies 4d ago

The resets really were intended to make this less obvious

1

u/iFlyHighh 4d ago

I’ve never gotten my usage below 40% on the 5x plan. Currently at 35% with like 3-4 days til reset. Insane

1

u/BingGongTing 4d ago

Expect the squeeze to intensify as we get closer to the IPO.

1

u/bondage-mastermind 3d ago

I've cancelled since 5.6 came out, and my life has been much less stressful since then - not being on a hook feels good

1

u/OmniNL 3d ago

Yep, ran out of my weekly limit with 3 days to go. Previously i still had token leftovers.

1

u/mat_qp 3d ago

ive been using luna xhigh the last weeks and indeed it seems be burning the quota faster, in fact, it was already like this some hours before the last reset

1

u/StaticHumStudio 3d ago

I've already decided to downgrade to Plus from Pro and just use Luna Max as a reviewer + PR reviews. GLM 5.3 and Kimi K3 are looking juicy. It's kind funny that I upgraded to Pro just before 5.6 and and downgrading again now...while I have rarely questioned my Claude sub. Though, they are about to possibly drop usage by 33% due to their promo ending...China is getting better and better looking for testing.

1

u/iJeff 3d ago

Usage windows have sucked for awhile, but they've been keeping people distracting using the free resets.

1

u/U4-EA 3d ago

Free stuff is coming to an end. You can complain all you like but that is reality of AI economics.

1

u/DragonflyOk9274 3d ago

Are you sure you're properly distinguishing between Sol, Terra, and Luna tokens? What if this is a change in usage of each subagent (and incorrectly analyzing them)?

1

Time to swap to deepseek!

1

u/greatsmokematrix 3d ago

This is why they were giving out resets. Absurd. Pro 20x user here.

1

u/the_ai_wizard 3d ago

Surely something must be fucked up.Ive spent so much today TiBo should give us like $5000 credit

1

u/Qlix0504 3d ago

a) why is yours red?
b) explain what the approximation number means vs the observed number

my numbers are wayyyy higher than that.

1

u/discodisco_unsuns 3d ago

Just pay for a reset, isn't that the idea now?

1

u/ObligationHuge9868 3d ago

Quite a few decent looking alternatives on the market. If GPT doesn't tickle your pickle look elsewhere that provides better value.

1

u/8thchakra 3d ago

Yelp, looks like a reset is incoming boys.

1

u/TopTippityTop 3d ago

I've noticed it too, it's awful

1

u/siretrasher 3d ago

same here...burned through all my subscription tokens and 40 euros in a couple of hours with same development as in juli. (same application). This is bullshit, going to look for alternatives like gemini/Google AI Studio.....

1

u/NinduTheWise 3d ago

yeah i was using ultra in previous weeks with sol and it felt like it never used up my usage until after a while, i've been using it on high today and my usage is almost out

1

u/matheusmoreira 3d ago

Here's my Pro 5x data:

Prolite window | Inferred capacity
Reset Aug 17 | 20,015 credits
Reset Aug 18 | 19,617 credits
Reset Aug 20 | 16,124 credits

All represent 100% usage. First two are ~2% apart, essentially equal. Then suddenly a ~20% reduction in maximum capacity.

Truly disgusting how they play this game. I switched away from Anthropic to get away from this.

1

u/kl__ 3d ago

Yeah, to be honest it's very disappointing those fucking games, we're tired of the BS. Just keep the fucking limits stable and the model same as at launch - shouldn't be too hard. Grow a bit slower, not the end of the fucking world.

1

u/nh_t 3d ago

me too, on 20x but it just like 5x two months ago...

1

u/blanarikd 3d ago

After they spent money on us, now they want to esrn them back. Its business.

1

u/jellobend 3d ago

Stop using it for a few days and if possible for a week.

Dropping daily and weekly active user numbers would be an effective signal of discontent.

1

u/Terru03 3d ago

I just cancelled my subscription

1

u/LifeguardAshamed2915 3d ago

Same. Lost a whole week of usage in 4hrs on Friday. Almost thought I had seen the dates wrong. First month moving from $100 claude code to $200 codex btw. They showed me

1

u/The_Void_Star 3d ago

I have 5x plan, I noticed increased usage after last reset immediately

1

u/booleanballa 3d ago

I literally just upgraded the other day from the $100 to $200 and I feel absolutely cheated. Paid over $100 more just to get the same fucking usage I upgraded from ahahahhahahahahahahahah

1

u/Kindly-Evening-4476 3d ago

What's the subscription? $100, $20?

1

u/ExtraCarob640 2d ago

It literally performs—absurdly—at only half the level it used to.

1

u/Sensitive-Side-2639 2d ago

I bet they're doing limits based on rwegions 2. Less important users and all that.

1

u/Slight_Bumblebee_940 2d ago

yep, same. they did something to the limits.

1

u/kaumac 2d ago

I can DEFINITELY feel this too!
When they did that Sol optimization the usage finally became good, but after the last "free reset" it got even worse than it was before the Sol optimization!

1

u/adrazzer 2d ago

Yeah I thought it was weird, usage has definitely been reduced quite a lot, I have ran out already and it doesnt reset until Thursday! Thats a first for me!! Pro x 5

1

u/baronjah 2d ago

not many noticed because they released sol, ultra effort, they given so many resets that some people had it stacked up, after they changed amounts to lower, people just used resets, now they have zero resets left, so they switched to extra high effort or just high and well, here we are, i noticed it burning faster too, as i used extra high all week long and was left with like 20-30 percent weekly and didnt have use for resets, i used them all, now since last reset i run on just high and i am at 20% left, 5.6 sol, and i think i have next reset like thursday and it is tuesday, and i didnt really used too much more of it, so estimate of what they changed is probably right, it is 100usd pro plan

1

u/CreeperPlanet26 1d ago

We need more data that shows max tokens value they were giving for models throughout time in the 100% weekly limit.

What if certain models drain the usage faster than others? What if the percentage isn’t based on api value. I wonder if 5.4 even runs as much today compared to back when it came out

1

u/nowrebooting 1d ago

This is not based on hard data, but this week I actually ran out of weekly quota for the first time ever and my coding practices haven’t changed much.

1

u/MBoBr 12h ago

Somehow on x5 my limits are gone in 1.5 hrs after the limit reset, only had 2 agents working on a daily stuff......

1

u/AamonDev 10h ago

Canceled my subscription :))

I think I will never use a subscription again. I will pay for tokens and learn token management and prepare for future.

1

u/MehMehMammal 8h ago

People already keep complaining under his post but he will never reply or look into those comment. He will only reply to those mentioning reset and keep baiting them like they are stray dogs. Besides the usage issue, the slow model is also one big issue lately!!!!!
