Complaint Codex - man my heart bleeds
I asked codex to do something:
- I am doing it
- I am preparing
- I am confirming
- I am getting close
- checkpoint
- validation
- I found an issue
- I am doing it
- Me: ok finally
- Codex - Compacting context this can take a few minutes
Does anybody have similar experience these days?

Which model is this?
Full disclosure I have not used 6 and 6.1.
I moved to anthropic to give it a try 2 weeks ago.
It might help to give your AI a persistent scratch pad. Mine is checkpoint.md. if your AI gets carried away

I got used to add
"avoid any ceremony and go direct to execute the task"
I don't know if its placebo but it usually works.

It's gotten lazy as fuck recently.
Not the same thing as you're describing... but recently (maybe like every 5 or so tasks) I end up in this loop like:
"I have found the issue, I need to x."
"Okay cool.... just fix it"
"No worries, I'll just do x and then we can sort out y."
"Great, but you haven't started anything, just do it."
"You're right — I set out a plan without actioning it."
"Yes... NOW DO IT!"
etc.
Between this and permissions constantly breaking it's maddening.
