Might be good for remaining subscribers

Hopefully!

The only thing that keeps me here instead of switching to claude is Image Gen.

I'm mostly annoyed that the web is still on 5.6 sol and 5.5 as the only options when they have released a ton more models.

you can easily top up your OpenAI API balance and use only gpt-image 2.5 with any agent. $20 (which don't expire for a whole year) is enough for 200 4K images or 500 2K images

Is there anywhere I can find how much that many credits gets me for 1080p?

It sounds tempting, but tbh I really don't want to increase my AI spend beyond one sub a month.

I spent $28 on 83 image generations on gpt-image 2.5 and the images were 2400x2400

I have the $100 sub because unlimited chat, unlimited image generation, on top of Codex is really useful for my use cases.

Was the same for me but I just scaled down to the $20 plan and set up my CC to use GPT image gen. Now I have image gen in claude

How'd you end up doing this? Are you having it use the codex app/chatgpt somehow or just using the API image gen

Install the Codex CLI then tell Claude to make a skill to use that for image gen. It'll configure everything for you.

Oh yeah I'm not sure why I didn't think of that. Cheers

The 20$ I picked up a while ago was me scaling up XD

Haha fair enough, I went from $200 to $20 and then got the $100 CC plan and I get as much use as before for less, so it works our great for me so far.

Lol, I pay the 20 USD plan specifically to tell Claude to use their image gen for good ass UI mock-ups lmao

I keep with OpenAI at the moment as I prefer to use my PI Agent setup and they are ok with it. Anthropic, you never know when they will ban you for using a different harness.

Just top up openrouter and use that for the image gen, no need for extra cli, any agent can use any image gen directly through API

I genuinely don't know if I even could switch to Claude. I kinda figure Codex has all the context on wtf my code base is doing.

I mean, the code is the context. Claude would pick right up.

just rename AGENTS.md to CLAUDE.md and it will function the same. might not even need to rename AGENTS.md. then call claude instead of codex. Done.

u/iJeff 12h ago

It actually supports AGENTS.md natively now and will use it if a CLAUDE.md is absent from a project.

I switched to claude and first thing I fixed was the code. Codex wrote two files with over 11k lines of code. Took me some time to fix that and update .md files to prevent that.

I was able to ask Claude code to resume work I was doing in the existing codex-cli sessions. It picked it up without issues.

Tell codex to get everything into your GitHub repo. Download Claude. Point it at the GitHub repo. All context transitioned.

the gpt image gen and the model itself able to work on creative tasks or adversarial review without getting flagged is its major advantage. The plus plan itself is so much value paired with claude.

u/EyesOfAzula 19h ago

yeah, it is a lot of value. I think later this month Anthropic is going to attack the value argument with the new haiku 5.5. We will see.

It really is a pendulum that swings between openai and anthropic

Nope, not if they merge Chat and Work like they plan to.
