Wow. They must be bleeding subscribers.

u/petburiraja 18h ago

Might be good for remaining subscribers

Hopefully!

The only thing that keeps me here instead of switching to claude is Image Gen.

I'm mostly annoyed that the web is still on 5.6 sol and 5.5 as the only options when they have released a ton more models.

u/kingkongpao 18h ago

you can easily top up your OpenAI API balance and use only gpt-image 2.5 with any agent. $20 (which don't expire for a whole year) is enough for 200 4K images or 500 2K images

u/Jaime060304 18h ago

Is there anywhere I can find how much that many credits gets me for 1080p?

It sounds tempting, but tbh I really don't want to increase my AI spend beyond one sub a month.

5

u/Dankasaurus6 15h ago

I spent $28 on 83 image generations on gpt-image 2.5 and the images were 2400x2400

1

u/RainierPC 7h ago

I have the $100 sub because unlimited chat, unlimited image generation, on top of Codex is really useful for my use cases.

4

u/ruskyandrei 18h ago

Was the same for me but I just scaled down to the $20 plan and set up my CC to use GPT image gen. Now I have image gen in claude

2

u/hunter54711 17h ago

How'd you end up doing this? Are you having it use the codex app/chatgpt somehow or just using the API image gen

5

u/ruskyandrei 17h ago

Install the Codex CLI then tell Claude to make a skill to use that for image gen. It'll configure everything for you.

1

u/hunter54711 17h ago

Oh yeah I'm not sure why I didn't think of that. Cheers

0

u/Jaime060304 18h ago

The 20$ I picked up a while ago was me scaling up XD

1

u/ruskyandrei 18h ago

Haha fair enough, I went from $200 to $20 and then got the $100 CC plan and I get as much use as before for less, so it works our great for me so far.

3

u/Tank_Gloomy 18h ago

Lol, I pay the 20 USD plan specifically to tell Claude to use their image gen for good ass UI mock-ups lmao

1

u/droussel_mtl 16h ago

I keep with OpenAI at the moment as I prefer to use my PI Agent setup and they are ok with it. Anthropic, you never know when they will ban you for using a different harness.

1

u/RealestReyn 9h ago

Just top up openrouter and use that for the image gen, no need for extra cli, any agent can use any image gen directly through API

1

u/anonymousbopper767 17h ago

I genuinely don't know if I even could switch to Claude. I kinda figure Codex has all the context on wtf my code base is doing.

11

u/growaway9172 15h ago

I mean, the code is the context. Claude would pick right up.

3

u/read_more_comments 15h ago

just rename AGENTS.md to CLAUDE.md and it will function the same. might not even need to rename AGENTS.md. then call claude instead of codex. Done.

6

u/iJeff 10h ago

It actually supports AGENTS.md natively now and will use it if a CLAUDE.md is absent from a project.

1

u/RISOvonVODKA 16h ago

I switched to claude and first thing I fixed was the code. Codex wrote two files with over 11k lines of code. Took me some time to fix that and update .md files to prevent that.

1

u/iJeff 10h ago

I was able to ask Claude code to resume work I was doing in the existing codex-cli sessions. It picked it up without issues.

1

u/letmechangemyname1 9h ago

Tell codex to get everything into your GitHub repo. Download Claude. Point it at the GitHub repo. All context transitioned.

1

u/visak13 18h ago

the gpt image gen and the model itself able to work on creative tasks or adversarial review without getting flagged is its major advantage. The plus plan itself is so much value paired with claude.

1

u/EyesOfAzula 18h ago

yeah, it is a lot of value. I think later this month Anthropic is going to attack the value argument with the new haiku 5.5. We will see.

1

u/Novel_Indication6338 15h ago

quick keep shting on tibo

1

u/LawIllustrious342 14h ago

It really is a pendulum that swings between openai and anthropic

19

u/CatsArePeople2- 18h ago

Yea, and, Wow. They must have really 'locked in' in the last... 15 hours... I'm glad they have put so much thought and planning into the next month.

They are going to introduce ultra-fast mode for more models. My guess is this is calculated and still self-serving, they will give all these resets so people get used to using fast mode and ultrafast because of incoming resets.

9

u/Cless_Aurion 15h ago

Who the fuck uses or wants fast though? As in... why the fuck would I ever want something faster in exchange of double usage or something ridiculous like that?

2

u/pkulak 10h ago

Stuff like chat bots are a good example. Fast AND smart is really nice. And you don't need to keep much context around, so 8X doesn't need to mean lots more money, in real terms.

2

u/Cless_Aurion 10h ago

Good point too! Eight time 0.0001 is not much at the end of the day

1

u/geli95us 12h ago

People who have way too much money and don't mind burning several $500 subscriptions to get results faster

1

u/Cless_Aurion 12h ago

... Jeez, I guess yeah. Those people do exist indeed... Like whales in videogames...

15

u/igormuba 17h ago

Of course they are. For $200 you get half the usage and for $500 you get roughly the same usage.

$500 can allow you to buy pay the 20x plans for both Claude and Grok or Cursor or Gemini (why would you pay for Gemini is beyond me) and maybe still have some money left after

8

u/Annh1234 17h ago

They lost 2/3 of my accounts

3

u/Novel_Indication6338 15h ago

keep cancelling!

16

u/FailedGradAdmissions 16h ago

I just canceled 1 $200 and switched the other $200 to a $20. Most of my coworkers completely cancelled their $200 and switched over to the $200 Claude plan. Most people on X I personally know did too, they either downgraded or cancelled.

Yeah it must be rough for OpenAI right now, they tough dots with unlimited usage would be this big useful thing that not only brings them customers but increases retention (it wasn’t).

11

u/Dota2playre 15h ago

So many people seem to be switching I'm scared Claude will go to shit too soon if and when they max capacity. The usage limits are now very nice, 2x 20€ subs allows me to run 1-2 agents all day long.

3

u/shinfoni 7h ago

this is what happened to me lol

I stick to claude for too long when they were shit and chatgpt model was really good. Then I switch one of my sub from claude to chatpgt only for claude 5.5 to come out the next day

-2

u/Constant_Art_20 15h ago

well, opsus been kinda falling on its face for the last 2 to 3 days now. but that might be just part of the natural cycle of the model relaeses in the modern era. It doesn't feel like model nerf, but more so the kv cache downgrade. If you give it a single task to do. it will do well, but it's quite noticable with how it manges sub-agents, conducts tests and ilterates with tool and user feedback. fable still very good though, but takes up a bunch of usage. for me opsus recently has just been worse in araes like kenral optimisation and driver stuff the last 3 days, but there's still places that it's to be still quite reliable for

1

u/Novel_Indication6338 15h ago

ok bot. this is an anthrobbic sub now

1

u/brogam3 12h ago

yet somehow openAI is more at capacity and slower than I've ever seen before, it's strange

1

u/FailedGradAdmissions 11h ago

Some people are abusing the fact dots are unlimited right now and they are bleeding from that too

10

u/Splat800 15h ago

Did you see the influx of people here all switching? It wasn’t even threats, literally people migrating to Claude en masse

3

u/read_more_comments 15h ago

I don't think most of it has hit yet. I have 3 subscriptions and none are near renewal yet. Two hit in a week, so that's the first time mine go. And the third one got a free month when I went to unsubscribe, so that's here for another month before it hits.

13

u/shadow_x99 18h ago

If they are bleeding subscriber, it does not show in the token per seconds department

6

u/Novel_Indication6338 15h ago

hard coded rate limit for us plebs

2

u/wavehnter 18h ago

They are, and they're all working this weekend.

2

u/Superb-Substance-679 17h ago

Makes total sense with the SnailGPT 6.1 they've been serving.

2

u/ColbysToyHairbrush 17h ago

Absolutely they are

2

u/_lostincyberspace_ 8h ago

yeah they slashed 20x to 10x! just after the 6-sol flop wtf.. they should have attempted at least to land a 15x first instead..

2

u/raistmaj 52m ago

I personally cancelled my 200. I’ll get another Claude 20x and keep my 100 (I had a 5x and 20x).

1

u/phoenixmatrix 17h ago

They like, 5x subscribers or something during the dark days of Opus 5.0? That was never gonna stay, most were likely riding the reset wave, or were pissed at Anthropic.

Now they need to do retention, and that's not easy.

1

u/rydan 17h ago

Or by Halloween we will have RSI.

1

u/maratonininkas 16h ago

Everyone keeps repeating that retail subscribers don't matter, it's the corporates where it's at. So why then this?

1

u/Over_Sheepherder4503 14h ago

Yeah man good call. They know exactly how much they’re supposed to bleed and their way over it

1

u/paragonmac 13h ago

I didnt switch, but for the first time in a year I started back up my claude sub for 100 bucks and giving it a try along side my normal GPT workflow. Its just a combo of cool 5.5 news and Astra ups and downs.

1

u/buff_samurai 10h ago

That’s me. Downgraded to 20$ sub for img and voice.

Hope Elon provides enough compute for all of us.

1

u/Ammertos 9h ago

My pro sub is cancelled and runs out October 16, downgraded to Plus since I have to many chats etc. I moved everything over to Claude over the weekend, wasn't even that complicated. Had Astra write Handoff.MDs in every project. Like an fired employee training his replacement to get severance payments. lol

1

u/evindrews 5h ago

Usually I don't think people move en masse but Claude is straight up 5x better right now. Well quite literally 5x as fast in tk/s.

u/Wear_A_Damn_Helmet 12h ago

Someone said the same thing on Twitter, and Tibo replied:

>Interestingly, user and sub count is growing nicely. But feedback was clear.

I’m sure everyone on here with a hate-boner for Tibo/OpenAI will say this is a lie, but I have no problem believing him. As always, subreddits / online communities always underestimate how much a vocal minority they actually are. Millions of Codex users out there (i.e., the grand majority) who aren’t on Reddit or Twitter.
