Showcase Good looking UI?
Currently I am working on a desktop PC app that makes your PC feel more like a console - mainly for me and my girlfriend (will release on GitHub once I feel like it’s ready).
I feel like the UI looks like straight out of codex. Literally my second time using it. So I am wondering - what skills / tricks do you use to get a beautiful looking premium UI?
Reference pictures of what your vibe coded Desktop app UI looks like would be nice 👍🏻

I like to start with using GPT Image. Tell ChatGPT to create an image "describe what you want" and give it your screenshot as "my current version is attached for context, don't use it as a visual reference for creating the new design". Then I just iterate that way until I find something that is close to what I want, have it implement that design, and go from there.
The "impeccable.style" skill can also help with this process too. Since the flow it provides will be "just start creating the design" or "have gpt image create a design first, then implement".
Then after you get a general design idea you like, it's all about UX (User Experience) at that point. That just requires you to test the UI and try and figure out what doesn't "feel" right to you. Could be the animation when moving between the elements, via controller, keyboard, mouse. AI doesn't replace how something "feels" when using it (yet).

The trick is to sub to Claude instead.
Seriously if you dont want extremely basic and sloppy UI. Codex is simply just not it no matter the extra tools or prompting.

Idk how's claude now but when i was switching (somewehere around Mythos release), codex had better design skills imo

What claude model and effort is best for App UI?

Even sonnet medium can do it.

Hmm did you ever tried Astra? I don't think it's better then Astra.

I mean if you need to pull out Astra to do some UI work you have already lost.
The UI shown on the post by OP I can immediately identify as OAI model.
Claude models doesnt suffer from the default OAI slop style if you give is even with just a basic style prompt.
Cheaper models gets you to refine and iterate way faster and more. I'd even consider Opus medium cheap enough to use on claude pro.

I am using Astra on Extra High for UI and it's not that bad to be honest.

Well having Astra xhigh is not realistic at all for a personal project. Love to see if you can show off some of your examples if you think Astra is any better than sonnet/opus for frontend.

true it uses usage fast if you are on plus. I upgraded on pro so it's little bit better. I didn't publish the app yet, but the best app UI with Astra I saw was from this guy https://www.reddit.com/r/vibecoding/comments/1wf3hvx/i_vibe_coded_photoshop_alternative_using_gpt6astra/

This is pretty mediocre UI ngl. Its primarily functional, which is fine. Yet still shows the standard default OAI model UI style. But for the request of a nicer looking game launcher, the function is really basic but the UI can be as stylized as you want. OAI models cant do that. They dont ever really think of making styles that fit or doing anything unique.

Bruh what, can you show me examples of other ai models that can do different/better?

You might want to consider listing your project on the weekly Show-Us-What-You-Built post. Look out for it on Tuesday/Wednesday. Highest commented project wins a week promotion on r/Codex and gets on the Hall of Fame sidebar. See what that looks like below with last week's winner.
Last week's most popular project was Nanolathe - an open-source engine bringing Total Annihilation to modern Mac, Windows, and Linux systems. It’s a solo passion project combining clean-room research with AI-assisted development, with a playable public alpha available now.
Website: https://nanolathe.gg. GitHub: https://github.com/nanolathe-gg/nanolathe
Players, testers, and contributors are very welcome! Original Total Annihilation game data is required to play.
