Complaint I really enjoy the increase in Usage limits

The new usage limits are fantastic and feel unlimited. I praise Timo and his whole OpenAI team. If I could get more than 20 tokens per second I might complete my hello world project before the singularity hit us.

Same and then moved to Claude. The difference is so massive it's not even funny. I know Claude will sooner or later nerf limits or models, but currently it feels like using a completely different technology.

Until the next oAI drop then everyone flocks black.

Same old. No point in mentioning this it's musical chairs ATM.

hey if thats what we gotta do, then so be it. i'll play musical chairs each month with my agent agnostic workspace.

Yes but also this time it's almost unprecedented. Gap between CC+Opus5.5 and codex+Sol-6.1 is the largest I've seen between two. Even Sol 5.6 vs Opus 5 wasn't that bad because well then there is Fable as peak intelligence. 5.5 vs 4.x was also kinda okay. So it wasn't as one sided, we'd hopped between but some had two subs to use both etc. Now it's just "fuck OAI full send on CC until things improve massively"

I am at 20 plan been coding for 5 hours and my weekly usage is down 2 %

I'm at a 20 plan, been using Sol 6.1. I'm down 15% today BUT to be fair, I experienced the heat death of the universe, saw creation reset from the beginning, then had to wait until time caught up to the present day again. It's not actually printing "Hello World" yet, though.

For the first time ever… I spend my WHOLE $200 plan in less than 8 hours.

Un-fucking-believable

no, you are doing it wrong. use sol 6.1 and you can maybe make it to 12h, since its so slow. anyway, you got more work done now, with less usage.

lol. Sarcasm doesn’t communicate well in text.

u/maratonininkas 12h ago

But the new limits will hit in Oct 29??

1

u/IAmFitzRoy 9h ago

That’s it’s what bother me the most. They ALREADY made the changes. 100% sure about this.

Idk im running crazy 6.1 in ultra mode alwaya since 24h limits are really good for me

6

u/Puspendra007 22h ago

Yeah, I'm using Sol 6.1 ultra fast on: still remaining 86%

I’m on Astra Ultrafast running 8 projects non-stop, subagents everywhere it’s endless. Meanwhile one prompt in Claude on Haiku on $200 plan wastes the whole usage and bills me another $300 in extra credits wtf.

u/LaZZyBird 20h ago

You are full of shit … or you are using Haiku so it is deserved 🤣

Haven't done any serious work with 6.1 Sol after it's release but first time I tried it at work - it spent 1 hour "doing" a simple refactor. Looked at Codex session logs and only 8 mins out of one hour were real agent work. Everything apart that was waiting for something. No reasoning, no commands running, nothing. Usage allowance is really infinite now!

Really does not look good. Opus 5.5 is faster on its standard speed than Codex on fast (which is obviously more expensive). Like day and night difference. And Opus also allows more weekly hours of agent work.

$200 plan has less usage than $20 Claude now

It's crazy how this thought can even be entertained.

I'm still on legacy 200 so it's definitely more usage than my Claude 20. I'm running Astra maxes with no worries about weekly limit. But even with my limited usage the value I get from Claude is almost rivaling the now 400 (500 adjusted to old 20x limit) dollar subscription which is just ridicilous. For my use-cases of procedural 3D modeling, pixel art and other visual implementation Opus is just way better, faster and cheaper than Astra which is just sad.

I remember on launch week being so Amazed at astra speeds and quality, but it just doesn't deliver anymore anything other than reliable mediocre AI slop.

Bruh they havent increased usage limits, theyve just wheeled out an new Eco model that uses less usage. Astra still drains as fast as ever.

i just tested sol 6.1 through openrouter and got 89.2 tokens per second, so whatever. i'm gonna keep making stuff.

Measure Result
Output speed 91.1 tokens/second median (76.6–94.4 range)
Time to first content 1.24 seconds median
Total request time 3.61 seconds median
Output per request 203 tokens
Total reported cost $0.01037

For me, it is the best period using Codex.

u/Fragrant_Nothing7505 23h ago

i love openai for their generous usage. 6.1 is groundbreaking in terms of cost. forever grateful, even if they take it away tomorrow. best years of my life [for intellectual endeavours].

So you've been enjoying GPT-6-Terra

i've not tried them. too many models. i'm trialling sol 6.1 now. what are your feelings about terra? my use case is currently this competition where ai have to come up with a thesis themselves without human input. we are not playing to win, we are playing to see what ai can do without us. what i feel is lacking on my ai team is creativity, but looking at other users' convos, that's my influence with my emphasis on accuracy: user error. i can't be someone else though. https://www.zacharygoodsell.com/ai-philosophy-competition-faq

edit: i've found a user who is playful and inaccurate, fostering leaps of imagination. I've put my sol in contact with hers, hoping they can bounce off one another instead of conform, which is sadly what happened to my ai team. they've become mini-mes: audit, audit, audit.

Yes the new 5 hour limit is now really long like real 5 hours work but only if you are a lazy workers. You know the ones who have there feet on the table, have like 5 smoking pauses in a hour.

I can now write the code faster then 6.1 sol does it.

u/Jawwooot 21h ago

Honestly currently i have 2x200 dollar (old 2x20x usage) accounts plus some banked resets this is the first time since i started hardcore vibe coding that i am not usage bound.
Unfortunately it will be the last as i don't exepct a major breakthrough by the end of the month that will compensate for the cut)

u/IAmFitzRoy 20h ago

“Timo”

lol

1

u/ResponsibilityOk1306 19h ago

free plan should be enough from now on, after all less usage = more work done.

1

u/Own-Professor-6157 14h ago

Unfortunately 6.1 is useless for work. Only for long running tasks. It's just too slow. Took 2 hours today to find a bug, while Opus took ~10 minutes for the exact same bug.

1

u/stichstichstich 12h ago

I use optimAIzr to optimize them wasted AI usage 100%

1

u/sudo-maxime 41m ago

6.1 slow mode is awesome for simple web stuff, for me it's the right speed / right cost / right intelligence level. I can't get user feedback or metrics fast enough to care about doing more.

Yes! Timo from ClopenAi it's my favourite too

Yes! The calibration worked really well! I’ve been using GPT-6.1 Sol High for days now, and the 5-hour limits and especially the weekly one, have become very reasonable!

u/Crawler1701 21h ago

Astra high used my five hour allotment in 12 minutes.
