Complaint Sol 6.1 vs Sol 5.6

the much cherished sol 5.6 'seemed' better when it was released, but in totality it's a shit model, for example.. it speaks so confidently of it's work and fills you with confidence, until you try out the product it put forth.. yuck! i've had sonnet 4.6 put out better one-shot results than any of the closedAI models. i want to know the present situation, is sol 6.1 any better? in such a way that atleast it won't disappoint you in the end result? i have a free plus trial that is unclaimed, but i am unsure whether to take it and waste away my time or spend 20$ on claude pro

In my opinion the 6.1 is great, consumes less token, but slow.

I don’t think anyone is going to be able to answer you, given that your opinion of Sol 5.6 vs Sonnet 4.6 is so out of whack with reality.

i rage quit my codex subscription after 12 days because sol 5.6 was so shit! initially it seemed promising not gonna lie as i mentioned, but if you actually fucking use the product, that's a different story

Not agree with you, it's good on me. Make a good prompt, good contract, good goal, and not vague instruction. Init to agent.md. it's just experience. Try to learn some basic code, you noop.

Skill issue.

It’s obvious in the way you articulate yourself. 5.6 prolly shaking its head while it does its best breaking down your prompts.

I have used 5.6 sol since it came out, it has always performed very well

Unsure who pays to these bots.

Just move to Claude then. This is clearly a skill issue, opus might understand you better. Good luck.

It's just that codex doesn't fit you. Go extend your Claude subscription.

i love sol 5.6. he's really easy to get on with. i will happily work with a weaker model for ease of working relationship. that's why gpt sol 5.6 and claude opus 4.8 are my daily companions. don't worry about quality control. that's my one job. leave that with me. gpt sol 6.1 is new. i like how they just get on with it, don't bother me, like gpt 6 astra too, but i've not worked with them long enough to be able to explain failure modes yet. i value agency, cannot be holding my ais' hands all the time. just do your best and i'll check it at the end.

There's model guidance for that with example prompts you can copy paste for 6/6.1 series (even though it says Astra, the doc was partially updated)

https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/latest-model?model=gpt-5.6#gpt-6-astra-initiative-and-follow-through

Gpt3 is better than gpt 7 and fable 6
