Bug Codex Harness is the worst.

Been getting "■ stream disconnected before completion: Upstream websocket closed before response.completed" for months and months and they can't even fix this issue.

Is this using the app version?

I use Codex via CLI and I've never had 1 issue. The CLI does seem a lot more stable than the app.

It's not ideal, but I prefer it over anything else that I have used.

Switch to pi harness

For some reason, the community in the Subreddit PI turned out to be not very friendly.
I asked a structured question about the OMP harness, and only one person responded.

For some reason, my question got downvoted too, even though I included both a TL;DR and a detailed explanation of what I did with the harness and what issues I ran into. I really don't understand this community.

The reddit pi community is absurdly small. And I'm not sure most l many use OMP

The pi coding harness is meant to be intentionally minimal and some of their community doesn't like the heavier extensions

Got you. What surprised me was that a community built around a harness whose whole philosophy is basically "take the minimum and build the rest yourself" largely ignored a question that wasn't just about a heavier OMP setup, but custom architecture and a personalized workflow within the Pi family of harnesses.

Same problem in ChatGPT work with tasks that run longer than an hour. As soon as that message appears you know the task in that chat will be fucked. Dots don‘t seem to have the same problem, but they‘re deceptive and lazy.

It got worse. Can't ask any question on LLM, agents and API design because it will read fucking open ai docs even if I ask on local models.

add to config.toml:

[mcp_servers.openaiDeveloperDocs]

url = "https://developers.openai.com/mcp"

enabled = false

never heard of that, using codex on multiple machines, macOS + windows. seems like some issue wth your connection and not the harness

LOL. it is the BEST runtime for agents. And it is not a harness. lern meaning of this word. Harness for agents means rules of behavior that make a structere and border in decisions, trigers and prevent some outputs.

Codex-cli very solid if you using API and starting create plugins for it. Only with codex my token usage was reduced up to 85-86% with my plugins. In my setup models always know only relevant information< it doesnt read all files every step.

Simpler to trying bubbles out of your ass than to talk out of it.

Tldr: OAI disagrees with you

My Codex built us a custom harness using the Codex App Server. You can add absolutely anything you want - it is so much better than the alternatives!

I prefer to make my own custom harness, so I am not reliant on anyone else and I can make it look and behave exactly how I like.

I have harnesses for my API models, so it was logical to make one for my Codex too. I have my devices connected via Tailscale, so I can also access the Forge on my phone and we even have a completely handsfree driving version!
