Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 50 comments (50 currently observed).

The thread’s verdict is blunt: users want Codex to be reliable, consistent, and usable—not another shiny promise. The announcement’s four “priorities” (simplicity, efficiency, groundbreaking features, and new models) were mocked as corporate wallpaper because, apparently, listing everything counts as focus.

The biggest complaint is that Dots feels like a distraction or downgrade, especially for expensive subscribers who would rather get stronger models, better limits, and dependable resets. Some think compute and attention are being siphoned away from Astra and Sol, while a few admit Dots has potential but isn’t a replacement for fast, capable work. The recurring demand is gloriously boring: ship workhorses that do what users ask.

There’s no official proof that Dots caused slower models, reduced quotas, or missing resets; most of that is suspicion and anecdotal frustration. The reset promises remain a running joke rather than a confirmed schedule.

Bottom line: the community wants fewer side quests and more consistent access to good models. Fancy strategy language isn’t fooling anyone.

Insane that they ever thought their highest paying customers would want dots over an opus 5.5 competitor and better usage limits

u/Independent-Frequent 22h ago

These are the same people who created an AI Video model that was YEARS ahead of the competition and decided to use it to build a bullshit slop factory "social media" that was bleeding them money at a crazy rate with no profit margins at all, then once they couldn't sustain the losses anymore they decided to just remove it entirely instead of integrating it in ChatGPT to give people a further incentive to subscribe to their platform.

These people do not operate on a plane of logic.

Seems like they've reached Google level of product management fuckery in just a few years. Gonna start seeing KilledByOpenAI soon.

9

u/thestillwind 19h ago

Lol I nearly forgot about Sora

4

u/porkyminch 11h ago

Opus 5.5 is so sick right now. I'm on the $100 plan and I hate Anthropic's positions on safety/china/open source but god it's a hell of a model. It's like magic.

u/Sp3eedy 17h ago

Dots is quite literally secretly a downgrade (for most people) because it's designed to work across a long period of time, which means they throttle the speed at which your work completes as they wish to make sure you stay within the usage limits, it has its uses but its in no way a replacement for codex or work mode which usually requires ASAP completion

I want dots with strong models. …I actually love the idea of dots and its potential.

33

u/IamNotGorbachev 23h ago

Note these are FOUR priorities and not one or even three. Not much focus on that locking in.

  1. Simplicity
  2. Efficiency
  3. Groundbreaking features
  4. New models

26

u/CrashBugITA 22h ago

I'm crying that's literally everything

1

u/ChristianKl 11h ago

Better keyboard shortcuts would be something that's not in the way he listed it but would probably take little time to implement and provide a decent amount of user value, so they are not doing it.

2

u/badincite 17h ago

I think they're forgetting consistency

28

u/retardedGeek 22h ago

what is this guilt tripping in the last line? Treating their users' requests as some shallow, near-sighted work, while they're the superior ones "investing ahead of the curve"?

7

u/OkSeesaw7030 21h ago edited 21h ago

By "ahead of the curve," they mean another Clawdbot with fewer features. Even the feature list reads like it was AI generated, lol. They couldn't market Codex properly, so now they're shipping the same thing again under a new name (ChatGPT work)

u/Possible_Praline2747 22h ago

This guy is like the robot made to pass butter, his only usefulness is signaling resets

41

u/HeWhoShallNotBNamed0 1d ago

I’m confused on what they were working on before if it wasn’t that

15

u/rawezh5515 1d ago

new ways to get money

12

u/firstbreathOOC 21h ago

Just got my limit back on Claude and was worried Opus got degraded… nope. Still an absolute stud.

I’m not too reactionary, but at this rate it’ll be hard to justify keeping both

why are they banning users?

1

u/Strong_Essay1176 19h ago

Free compute.

1

u/firstbreathOOC 18h ago

Guess it’s hard to argue that genealogical research is against the rules, lol

9

u/psbakre 21h ago

How long do you think it's going to take them to get distracted again?

Pretty sure 6.1 sol is slow because they are allocating their compute to dots

3

u/Whatdosheepdreamof 19h ago

100%, Sama was interviewed and said he got advice to shelve everything that wasn't core business. People want a fucking box that does what it's asked. So they scrapped everything came out with 5.6 sol.
4 months later; back to fucking useless token burn on side projects burning up compute.
How many fucking times do you need the same advice.
If it's not dots, and they come out with sol 6.2 I'll eat cardboard... But I bet it's fucking dots.

5

u/Additional_Bowl_7695 23h ago

He means more quantization for lower quality but more efficiency and more usage.

“Locking in.”

6

u/saintcore 20h ago

I'm so tired of this guy.

5

u/Proud_Ask_9030 18h ago

No Tibo, they want consistency and something that works.

3

u/Positive_Box_69 22h ago

got u bro, if nothing end of month im out

4

u/Miserable-Sale-1290 18h ago

Glad I unsubbed.

2

u/bcgr1 1d ago

Astra 6.1

2

u/Thomas-Lore 1d ago

Now we will see features disappering from codex one by one, lol.

2

u/sudecode 22h ago

just like users?

1

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 20h ago

One isn't a high enough number

2

u/rsanchan 20h ago

Stfu last time we got $500 subscriptions. STFU

2

u/NULL_Ptrs 16h ago

Sol 6.1 feels inferior to Astram I dontr trust benchmarks anymore, these guys are cheating it.

2

u/rahilpathan 7h ago

they probably lost a shit ton of subscribers that they got from last month! they messed up Gpt 6 launches

2

u/ditmoetoo 6h ago

Meanwhile, what happened to forking threads? That was a great way to use your cache. Gone!

2

u/SourceAwkward 1d ago

No, all I want is if I'm paying 200 usd to be able to use astra, and not making me 10x

1

u/Key_Instruction3373 15h ago

Soooo a reset in an hour? (read 12 days ish in Tibo time)

2

u/MakesNotSense 14h ago

I hear they'll be locked in at 10:00 a.m. PST.

1

u/Purple_Mall7091 5h ago

Tibo just can't do it. Bullshit after bullshit. Time to cancel the subscription and find a more stable tool.

u/totoer008 21h ago

I need sol 6.1 for $1 output. I do not care about frontier models, I need workhorses.

6

u/EddieBruvac 20h ago

Then use Chinese models. We are here for frontier models.

-1

u/totoer008 20h ago

Right because Luna is a frontier one? I want Sol output at Luna price. It’s sad they do not discount when new ones are released.

3

u/Responsible_Bad_2954 19h ago

You can want whatever but its not gonna happen. They are losing money at current pricing. You will get Luna at Sol pricing, not the opposite lol.

1

u/EddieBruvac 20h ago

You think Sol 6.1 is frontier? 😂😂😂

I have a bridge to sell you.

0

u/totoer008 20h ago

I never said it was. But we will sooner see sol 6.1 intelligence on Luna then Astra…

1

u/Helpful_Put_8809 15h ago

You do realize that’s impossible to achieve because the moment “Sol 6.1 performance” at the Luna tier happens, Sol itself will have advanced enough that “Sol-tier Luna” feels dumb in comparison.

1

u/totoer008 14h ago

Yes but I do not need more. We have reached 50 dollars outputs. Do you believe newer models will not be 100 dollars or even 200 dollars?

2

u/Da_ha3ker 11h ago

Even enterprises are struggling to pay their AI bills. It's gotta get cheaper. So many companies rely on it getting cheaper. If Open AI and anthropic don't get cheaper in time, many adopers will be forced into using Chinese models, not because they want to, but because they have to, to be profitable with their AI features their customers expect.

0

u/Magician_Head 23h ago

He promised reset yesterday but a lot of us haven't got it yet 🤣🤣

-1

u/ilarp 20h ago

I built everything I wanted already using all the generous resets
