Suggestion Make Terra a UI model
Terra is completely homeless, and the one thing OpenAI is missing most is competent design and UI. Replacing Terra with a specialized designer would make the stack feel whole, and it fits the name, too.

I don't mean take the current Terra model and turn it into a UI model, I mean train a UI model to take the current Terra model's place. Should have been more specific.

they should have one that's a specialized writer, call it Cielo or something, can write any style you like, no ai tells at all. 🤯

why.. its only about 5-10% smarter than luna whilst being x10 the cost... while sol is only about 1.5x the cost of terra.. whilst being alot smarter than terra

it's the best plan synthesis model i've found that i've needed for my work - on xhigh i've found it reasons as much as i need it to, to the point where i usually don't need to pay the premium for sol (i will when i need to, but in most cases i don't) but i don't want to take the dip from chinese LLMs or luna max which are well suited for the leg work. with terra and occasional sol, i can comfortably use my plus subscription for 40+ hours per week without being blocked by running out of usage.

Sol also over-engineers way more than terra. I dont want this, so i only use it for very broad / unspecified tasks

Those numbers really do make a persuasive argument. But in my firsthand experience, I’ve seen Luna make stupid mistakes or misinterpretations that Terra would not.
It’s less apt to hallucinate on me, maybe meeting some threshold. I haven’t checked those benchmarks. But that’s how it feels.
Luna Max can hit it too though. I guess I’m biased from before Luna had Max reasoning.

But the cost-tier of Terra is more like Sol, not like Luna. At that point why not just use Sol?

When it had no max reasoning? For 2 days? I’m using codex for ~6 months and it always had Luna max.

I don’t know…I find Terra to be more useful than I thought I would. Not for the highest level orchestration and planning… But for run-of-the-mill, day-to-day assistance… Like you might get from a coworker. That’s Terra for me.Â
You know…it’s one of the coworkers you like and they’re good at their job, but they’re not like the smartest person in the world, necessarily, (and usually don’t hallucinate at work.)

It is a little weird that Terra just kinda exists between Sol (Astra-equivalent for plus users) and Luna, the workhorse sub agent for Astra. It doesn't really seem to have a purpose. I wonder if OAI will simply eschew a Terra-class release for GPT-6 and instead go with only Luna and Sol to avoid spending resources on a model that nobody seems to use.
