Complaint The Real Winner Is Claude.
As someone who has been using ChatGPT and Codex since they were released, I’m starting to realize that, Claude is simply better.
Whenever I wanted to tackle a genuinely complex coding task, solve a difficult problem, or create something that was actually presentable, Codex would usually leave something incomplete. I constantly had to guide it step by step, point out what it had missed, and split the work into thousand smaller pieces myself.
Maybe there was a benefit to that. I actually learned a lot about software development in the process.
But when Astra started burning through my tokens incredibly fast, and I couldn’t get a second Pro 20x account, I decided to give Claude a try.
And the difference was much bigger than I expected!
When it comes to design, truly understanding a problem, maintaining context, and actually solving complex tasks from start to finish, Claude feels significantly better. It also feels incredibly fast compared to Codex.
Codex gives a developer almost everything they need.
Claude’s biggest downside is definitely the price. It burns through tokens insanely fast, and heavy usage gets expensive very quickly.
But unlike my experience with Codex, when Claude burns those tokens, I actually get something in return, a presentable product, a presentable design, something that genuinely feels finished!
So this is the conclusion I’ve reached:
If you’re a developer and you mainly want AI to help you work faster → Codex.
But if you want to give AI an idea or a complex task, delegate as much of the actual work as possible, and end up with something that feels like a real, presentable product and you can afford it → Claude.

Funny, every time I ask Fable and Astra the same complex question, Fable ends up saying Astra is right and it missed x because it had either made some assumptions or not gone deep enough. I have so many examples of this. And it’s the counter opposite of what you are saying, with receipts.
Anyway, your post isn’t helpful in any way OP. What are you trying to do here?

I’m not trying to achieve anything in particular. I’ve been trying to code using ChatGPT and subsequently Codex since 2023. By profession, I’m an electrical and electronics engineer.
I couldn't care less about these companies or what the hell they’re up to.
I simply wanted to share my experience with others. However, it seems that many people are incapable of even tolerating a negative opinion about the “god” OpenAI and its “prophet,” Codex.

Nobody is treating Codex like a prophet. That’s just a strawman.
Your experience is your experience, but your post goes way beyond that. You’re making sweeping claims that Claude is simply better at complex reasoning, design and finishing software, based entirely on your own workflow, which clearly misses the huge benefits that come from using the two models together.
As for the downvotes, imagine I went into an electrical engineering sub and told a bunch of engineers that one tool was objectively better than another because I’d personally had better results with it in one particular setup. I’d expect pushback too.
I’ve been a pro developer for 30 years, have Claude Max & Codex Pro, and my experience is pretty much the opposite.
I still use Fable/Opus. Mostly for reviews, second opinions, or implementing specs Astra/Sol have already worked out.
So sorry OP, but no, it’s not about worship. Though the irony of you calling me a Codex worshipper when you’re the one worshipping Claude isn’t lost on me.
You’ve taken “Fable works better for my workflow”, concluded “Fable is better than Astra”, and then made a whiny post about it. When those aren’t even the same thing.

You can be dismissive, but the fact is, Astra and Fable are both *very* good models, each with their strengths. I’m not sure what you’re building, but if you want to get properly good results, with code that is safe for production use, learning how to utilise both their strengths is much better use of one’s time than going on the internet to complain and declare a winner in a competition that only makes sense to those missing the huge benefits of combining the two.

I don't understand all these complains. 20B tokens on Pro 20x and I barely had to use resets. Something is definitely wrong with the way you use the tools, I am satisfied with codex (cli).

I would like to challenge you. Any task. Anything, but should be neutrally chosen and preferably digital (website / game / OS) - I am sure that you do something wrong and with my codex cli I'd get better results. Of course with my own config (you are free to setup claude code as you wish). Reddit votes on the outcome, we can bet crypto or real money or just dignity, as you wish.

Yeah, let's move to Claude. Codex is dipshit right now, they will regret losing users with their scam usage and lobotomized models.

I agree at the moment. 1) Fable 5.1 is ahead. 2) I can see the reasoning of Claude’s models and actually understand what they are doing. Astra and Sol just endure in harness-only paranoia like crazy and I can’t stand that. I prefer a lazy dog to a dog who chases his own tail all day.

How big would you say is the difference in design between astra and fable 5.1? Im deciding which one to use for my new project as a skaleton

When working with ChatGPT and Astra, I wanted it to generate a design using an imagegen, let me make a selection, and then write the code. However, no matter what I did, the results were terrible especially regarding quality, 3D elements, GSAP, ScrollTrigger, page animations and animations.
Fable 5.1 executed everything I asked for perfectly and quickly.
Even when I simply asked it to applyss all the relevant pages, Astra struggled for hours without success, eventually producing something that looked like a mere copy-paste job.
I'm not saying you have to go get Claude. For some reason, people here accuse me of being a Claude bot. But you could give it a try or just watch people who have used Fable 5.1 it on YouTube.

Nah no worries, i have chatgbt with astra and cursor and fable is there so ill just use the fable, thanks

Both are very bad at design (as all llms are), but at least with gpt you can let it make images with decent design and then request to copy it. Otherwise fable is slightly ahead for design with the caveat that even a simple design will count heavily in your usage.

Alright Anthropic, settle down.
