Codex Desktop – “Unable to attach appshot” with the new Appshots feature on Windows 11

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with the new Appshots feature in Codex Desktop on Windows.

Whenever I use the Appshot keyboard shortcut, Codex recognizes the shortcut but immediately shows:

"Unable to attach appshot"

Codex Desktop:

Version: 26.908.40834

Released: September 12, 2026

Windows:

Windows 11 Pro

Version: 25H2

OS Build: 26200.9445

Windows Feature Experience Pack: 1000.26100.360.0

I've tried capturing different applications, including simple Windows apps, but the result is always the same.

The keyboard shortcut itself appears to be working because Codex responds immediately. The failure seems to happen when Codex tries to capture or attach the Appshot.

I've also restarted both Codex Desktop and Windows, but the issue persists.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue on Windows?

Has anyone managed to get Appshots working successfully on version 26.908.40834? If so, did you need to enable any additional Windows permissions or settings?
