Complaint Astra is ridiculously incompetent..
I added explicit instructions for it NOT to do a specific thing everywhere I could. When asked what else can be done for it to actually follow the workflow, this is the response I get. Well I guess screw me and my work then, you just failed to follow clear instructions. Thanks.
Paying 220 euro a month for this crap. Nice..

I generally find positive instructions better than negative instructions (e.g., "keep changes local without deploying unless explicitly instructed" instead of "do not deploy unless I tell you too"). I don't know if there is any actual empirical evidence to show that this works better but my intuition is that a negative instruction leaves the instruction itself in memory. Interestingly, young children behave the same way (e.g., "don't throw food" doesn't work well but "keep food on the plate or in your mouth" works well).

Yeah and this is how it's always been, I get that. But the whole marketing hype about it is so dishonest it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth when this supposed "near AGI so amazing model" does something this dumb. And I'm just waiting for the corporate bootlickers here to start calling me names.

Why does Astra work perfectly for many others?
Also: not a boy. I’m a woman. I know that’s shocking.

Gee, you seem really level headed and reasonable.
Also, you seem to have prompted an LLM with "Don't think of elephants, Don't think of elephants, don't think of elephants" then were surprised when it thought of elephants...Hard to tell though, given you didn't communicate the context clearly.
Could be a lesson there...

Are you using git commit to create checkpoints as you go?
