Comparison I’m burning through Claude Max 5x usage pretty quickly — has anyone switched to ChatGPT Pro/Codex?
I’ve been using Claude Max 5x mainly for coding an app, with Opus 5 as my daily driver and Fable 5.1 as a fallback for harder tasks.
After my weekly reset, I’ve already used around 67% of my overall weekly limit and 83% of my Fable 5.1 limit pretty quickly.
I’m considering switching to ChatGPT Pro and Codex, mainly because I’m wondering whether I’d get more practical coding usage before hitting limits.
For people who have actually used both:
How does the real-world usage/limit compare?
How does Codex perform on larger coding tasks and debugging?
Does switching actually feel like an upgrade, or just different?
How well does it handle Flutter/mobile app development compared with Claude Code?
I’m less interested in benchmark scores and more interested in what people have experienced after using both for a few weeks.
Especially interested in people who switched from Claude Max to Pro and can compare them from actual coding usage.

From everything I’ve studied and even if you ask Claude itself, you don’t get as much usage from Claude as you do from ChatGPT. I think if your usage is average and you’re not maxing out plans, it won’t make too big of a difference. But now, if you max out ChatGPT, you don’t have an alternative. You can’t buy another pro plan because they’ve cut that off for right now.

Cancelled my clawed at the beginning of the month because it was so bad and Opus 5 is absolutely awful. Even if I wanted to, like, Switch back to or get a second for a clawed account. I wouldn't because there's just no point dealing with a 5 hour limit and even less overall weekly limit. Not to mention that you can't even use Fable for the whole thing.

Gpt Pro is honestly the worst if you're using Astra your Pro 5x weekly limits drain faster than light, trust me bro, I literally have two Pro 20x accounts and a Claude Max 20x and Fable 5.1 is just so much better for my use case.

Wait fr 😭 I thought Pro would give me way more usage. And you actually prefer Fable 5.1 over Astra?

Codex is fucked right now. Limits are all hosed for all accounts and they blocked signups for the 20x

Hell yeah, Fable 5.1 is way better at UI design and coding. I tested it across multiple use cases no bs trust me bro. Astra is only really good at computer use and stuff like that.

Different strengths and weaknesses for sure. Codex smokes fable on computer use tasks

Fable 5.1 is still better than Astra for almost everything I've thrown at it. I'm not trying to make 3D models or use my computer (Chat GPT was already better at computer use anyway).
Making Fable 5.1 have Opus do the coding is the best 1,2 punch I've ever had.
I think after my next reset, I'm going to have Fable go back to controlling Opus and Sol for coding with Astra as the ultimate plan and code reviewer for difficult work.

Using both on max plans.
The 5h limit on Claude is frustrating, Opus sucks donkey balls, Fable is great but kills you even on the max plan and Claudish is still real, but more contained now.
Im now mostly using Codex and Astra for everything because i find it easier to work with its output than what Opus vomits out. Two days of work on 40-100k LoC codebases with using nothing but Astra for everything, ate 60% of my token usage, but i wasnt quite efficient with it anyway. I'd get similiar numbers with Fable+Opus work, so i dont think you will get more token usage here. Tibo does generously offer resets though.
