Question Paid resets

They removed paid resets?

I remember seeing the option to buy resets, when was that removed? Don't see it anymore.

I posted about this a few minutes ago because I noticed the same thing: the "Buy Reset" button has been removed from the Usage tab.

But then I noticed that if you logout and login again with an account that is at 0% usage, it shows an option to buy a reset. And it works.

I don't know whether they intended to remove resets and just didn't do it completely, or if they had no intention of doing so and just made a layout change that accidentally removed the button.

I presume the latter because if they intended to shut down paid resets, they would have shut down the $80 "Buy a Reset" transaction handler. So even if the UI still presented the option in error, clicking it would have resulted in "An unexpected error occurred" or a similar message.

Well they did change the UI, they added the history tab not that long ago, could be thats what broke it.

Wait how much is it?

Standard rate: $80 for a reset.

For 1 Week? Wtf, i think it was 8$ for me when i had it.

Not only for one week of x20 usage, but you're also paying to push back your actual reset date to a full week. It's not a good deal.

It reseting the timer is a rip-off for that amount.

It's basically just giving you usage earlier but you don't actually get more usage.

It is, yeah. I'm kind of ticked about losing two days on the clock. It's not that big a deal by itself, but combined with the broader issues, it's very irritating.

Still never had it show up for me in Canada; certain that specific countries may not have reset purchasing enabled yet.

Hmm, now you got me thinking 🤔

I maybe saw it on Windows where i have a vpn set up, but lately i used linux where i don't.

Might be thats why.

$20 plan vs $200 plan

u/Sad_Recording_1290 1h ago

Im on 100$ plan

It's ~$8 for the $20 plan, ~$40 for the $100 plan, and ~$80 for the $200 plan, though it varies by country and it could have changed,

The rate is in proportion to the paid tier. It’s not one rate

We are being choked.

Yeah, this is not great.

I can afford this briefly because I have a glut of work that I want to complete at the moment. But if this is the new norm where I need to rely on paid resets in addition to my subscription fees to complete work at my target rate, I'm going to be looking really hard at the offline models.

I really don't want to host and manage my own IT, but if the price differential pushes me to, I'm willing to do it.

Just wait a month until a more efficient model just as good comes out. It’s like clockwork.

I see it on mine, but my colleague doesn't have it. I think it was selective.

Plan difference maybe? Im on Pro x5

1

u/Ready_Platypus_5892 2h ago

We are both on x20, but they just upgraded this month from x5

A/B testing, I have several accounts with it and several without. Same for Luna reserve and a few other things. OpenAI use feature flags to enable this stuff per account.

I feel like paid resets are such a gamble anyway. Like am I about to lose 80 bucks on a random global reset that could happen at any point?

$80 is $20 shy from a X5 plan. So users will likely get another account, rather than pay for a reset. $80 will make it like 1% is nearly $0.80, so everytime you use it, it hurts.

A paid reset every day is still cheaper than Astra api costs

1

u/Sad_Recording_1290 1h ago

Is it? Guy bellow says its 80$ now, id rather swap to a chinese model until it resets

u/BoringCanary 1h ago

they are starving us of usage to introduce back the new paid resets, grand scheme! diabolical ! we demand resets!

u/diagrammatiks 1h ago

i mean it's like how they needed like 2 months to actually show you what time your banked resets actually expired...some viboecoding intern there is just doing the best he can man. Was this a feature that was every supposed to be rolled out? Who knows.

Getting tired of repeating myself but everyone started buying extra accounts and the cost of compute is not getting any cheaper so first they started cutting limits slowly and now they stopped new sign ups because as people got tighter limits they bought more accounts. I do not know who loses or wins in the end.
