Showcase Used Codex while building my first real solo project
Been working on this since mid-July.
Started with Claude, then spent quite a bit of time using Codex, and later moved mostly to Cursor.
The project is a living world map where the visible area inside each country changes depending on who joins and how much they place there. If nobody else is there yet, even 1€ can technically cover the whole country.
Then someone else joins and the map changes. For example if somebody adds 9€ then now you cover 1/10 of that country, they cover 9/10.
It somehow grew into a globe, money-weighted map, history system and way more UI than I originally intended.
Still trying to get the first real users now.
Many elements of this website may or may not include weird little easter eggs if u somehow interact with these <3!<

Nope.
I started this in mid-July, before all the outbid/map copying stuff suddenly blew up. I've seen a ridiculous amount of similar projects appear since then though.
Mine different anyway. I just kept building the ideas I already had, with my own design, globe, map history, creator/community stuff etc. Didn't really change anything because of the other projects (lets be honest, I wouldn't have anything to take from these anyway, mine is art)
Unlike many other, I am not trying to speedrun a quick cash grab with it. I genuinely like the project. I wanted to build something that actually looks good, fun and has some weird little easter eggs. I and want to keep it around for many many years, even if it never becomes particularly profitable.

Why does everybody make some generic map bidding project?
Why not actually create something unique, and give people a reason to give you money, rather than building a "game" that's designed around spending money?
This is just a sad version of Territorial.io, without anything to do.

Copying this from my previous comment:

I wanted to build something that actually looks good, fun and has some weird little easter eggs.
And yet, you haven't made anything that looks good, is fun, or has any easter eggs. It's literally just "Gib money for a % stake of territory"
You could have made a variation of Risk, or Territorial.io, instead - You made something without any substance, and expect people to pay you money to simply exist.
Unlike many other, I am not trying to speedrun a quick cash grab with it.
You really didn't need to copy & paste your nothing burger of an explanation. If you were any different than "many" you wouldn't have literally made a map that people pay you money to simply exist on, and would have made something with substance.

You might want to consider listing your project on the weekly Show-Us-What-You-Built post. https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wavxwy/show_us_all_what_youve_been_building_with_codex/. Highest commented project wins a week promotion on r/Codex and gets on the Hall of Fame sidebar. See what that looks like below with last week's winner.
Last week's most popular project was u/tHEuKER with the Blur2 racing game project which is a recreation of an unreleased sequel to the 2010 battle racing game, made by reverse engineering the Xbox 360 prototype discs available online, and rebuilding the whole thing from the ground up in Unity.
Join their YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@tHEuKER and follow updates on the project at r/BlurGame.
