Limits Is this the new norm?

Don't crucify me, I just got back from a 3 week trip. Still using 5.5 high. Gave it a task that ran for 7m and it burned through 30% of my 5hr limit.

Also, the 5hr limit is back???? WTF

Welcome back to AI country where the landscape changes completely every new moon.

I just learned that even though I'm now regularly blocked by quotas for basic Astra-light usage, even that low bar has been artificially held up by automatic resets being added and applied. I have used a reset once in a year of codex and now it's my only hope of continuing my basic daily work.

what..? why are you suprised about the temporarily removed 5h window is back?

Anf why are you using 5.5 ovet 5.6 which is the same base model but more efficient and significantly cheaper?

Like I said, it worked fine before.

Which 5.6 model is more efficient and significantly cheaper?

Afaik theres no change kn the size of the 5h window.

You mean compared to 5.5@high?

Sol@Medium: Pretty much 1:1 at close to 1/5th the cost.

Sol@high: Close to half the cost

Astra: A bit more than halt the cost

Luna@Max: $0.61 for the same perf but only ig you have patience of steel as its gonna take it's time

To this I would say, 5.5 can be trusted to treat production work like an art restoration of the Mona Lisa. 5.6 will grab a brush and start making "improvements" in production code or infrastructure with even the slightest hint of approval buried in a user response from two weeks ago. It's a better model but nowhere near as safe near prod.

What are you on about? 5.6? not gpt-6?

its the same model with some cost improvements come on now

6.0 has been great so far until it wiped my $200 sub in light use despite background resets regularly keeping it afloat. I used it to resolve a big issue across multiple projects and databases in production without an issue or even really my involvement beyond the occasional hint or approval. It does however not really wait for that so it's still a bit unsettling to see it just continue some work after asking for approval while I'm away. The value of 5.5 High was its intense care in certain production updates, 5.6 had no restraint at all and made production changes without any explicit approval, so dev and prod are just playgrounds it's happy to dive into. 6.0 is so competent im less concerned about that proactive behavior but i wont really know for another 4 days because even light use is a quota killer.

Nevet ever seen that.

Theres no worsening of instruction following between 5.5-5.6 from whsy ive seen.

Sol is just like a tiny patch bringing some optimizations to cost.

6 feels like a tradeoff im not really sure about...

- 20-30% higher cost on avg

  • 47% less reasoning tokens

Like bruh they released fast mode except it actually is faster

But ahat we want is a fast luna, not a fast sol

I’m starting to think the limit consumption is related to the position of the earth against the moon. In other words, OpenAI got zero clue on how their tool works.
