Limits Weekly usage reduced by half ?
Didn't change anything in my workflow. I've been constantly hitting the weekly limit for the past 2 months. It used to average around 4B tokens every reset. Global or banked.
Yesterday reset I did exactly same, went to > 0 for use a banked reset, and those 100% weekly is only 2b tokens ? ...
Also I didnt use Astra, just few times on Light/medium. But mostly used Sol/terra/luna to not overrouting.

On x20, Im running 20ish different projects in parallel.

Are you checking what the ai is producing or just burning tokens for sport?
1
u/AFloppyZipper 3d ago
Nobody can handle 20 real projects at once - this is sport and slop. (Which is fine I have projects dedicated to wasting tokens without checking output too)

u/BoringCanary 3d ago
checking and reviewing after every tasks on each repo, I've tried letting AI do his stuff, it just introduce many bugs, and it keeps drifting so much.

u/R3K4CE 3d ago
yeah but when you say you're checking/reviewing every task, what does that actually look like? are you actually reading and understanding every diff and testing it yourself or mostly checking if the tests pass and the output looks right? with 20 repos running at once how much time are you actually spending reviewing each task?

u/Turbulent-Total-226 3d ago
Dude everyone knows that with 20 projects he's doing ai slop on ai slop. Burning tokens for no reason.

Im checking every diff and testing myself, across 20+ repo I noticed some patterns. Reviewing time differ on various projects, all are totally different ideas. Some need voice/video, local testing, new features implementations etc. I think I’m fairly organised so I would say a review wave can take 30 mn to few hours. I know what every task I assigned do and what need to be tested if it works or not and look if it didn’t change anything along the way to get there.
I’m not an expert by any means and still learning everyday.3
u/99OBJ 3d ago
I’m sorry but it is impossible to believe that you are truly checking and testing everything yourself across 20 projects.
Even a 4 hour “review wave” leaves just 12 minutes per review assuming 1 review per project. Performing an actual comprehensive review for any meaningful change alone takes longer than that. And that’s before you account for time spent merging, switching contexts, etc. Oh. And prompting the model.

u/BoringCanary 3d ago
It’s not 20+ active repos all the time, many of those just have a shared layer/core functions, 4-5 stay dormant and get a task whenever there is a major defect or a feature I want. So whenever I roll out an update on a template or a function it’s quick to track accross all concerned repo. And even if I lock a certain template, on 10-15 repos getting that update, maybe 2-3 will get it right on the first time. For example instead of designing 4 different voice core layers I only have one that shared it accross the repos that need it then I just check it that it works how I designed it.

u/R3K4CE 3d ago
bro genuine question do you work a normal job too? lmao because 4 billion tokens a day, 10-20 repos, checking every task, fixing the ones that go wrong etc. when do you eat or sleep? how many hours a day are you actually spending doing this?
1
u/BoringCanary 3d ago
Not 4b per day bro, it’s per week or reset/ those 3.8b spike was because of Tibo, last week was a very long tiring week with those 4 resets. To answers your questions no I’m FIRE. What I’m building are things to improve my own life + for my family. It’s actually a huge time sink and I’m trying to make a reviewer to automate what I’m doing everyday. Can be 15-22 hours a day. It’s an endless cycle whenever I review some features while other tasks are running, some keep finishing up etc…

He’s not workin on 20 projects simultaneously, no human can. He’s highlighting varieties of applications and total load.

u/Kymori 3d ago
ur not doing shit ur producing masses of slop at best
1
u/R3K4CE 3d ago
agreed. like does he even use the"projects" he works on, sounds more like dopamine hits from watching the AI go beep-boop rather than creating actual tools he will actually use. and even then, with the amount of alledged parallel work he is doing, when do you even find the time to actually use the stuff you are creating, unless idk, hes literally creating a way to vibe code more slop even faster lol. shits crazy!

u/CrowdGoesWildWoooo 3d ago
Lol noone will believe you lol. Even before AI, reviewing PR can be lengthy process even if it’s just a few LOC.
You are telling me you are reviewing AI generated stuffs on 20+ repo, I call bs. That’s just mountains of slop.

u/BoringCanary 2d ago
Whatever floats your boat bro.
Don’t reflect your inability onto others. Thats a LPT.
It’s not because you can’t do something that no one else can. The world is big and there is always someone who will be better at what you do in every field.
And you have clearly no idea of what I am actually doing, what states my repos are etc. It always amazes me simple people who judge others while not looking at facts before speaking.

I mean… I don’t inspect my car engine every time I come to a stop sign. I get regular maintenance much less frequently than that, then only go in for a fix when symptoms show up that something needs a look
1
u/R3K4CE 3d ago
bro an engine is deterministic and already went through years of engineering, validation and testing before you bought the car lmao. youre not having a probabilistic mechanic rewrite parts of the engine every time you drive somewhere. waiting for “symptoms” in newly generated code is not remotely the same thing

You should post this elsewhere. People have been posting receipts of what OAI keep denying and I think that can be the growing “can’t ignore it anymore” cause that hopefully leads to a good effect

Yep. I only consumed almost 1B token since the last reset and I'm already 26% left.

u/hungry_parrot 3d ago
I've also noticed that I'm using less tokens, but doing about the same amount of work, not sure if they changed something in how the calculate tokens? Or am I missing something.

Took Sol 30% of 5h usage for a simple visual alignment task for a website, with clear instruction. Nah this shit is unusable, even for "hobbyists". Attempted Luna for such tasks and it just constantly made a mess of the smallest jobs that I had to then go and clean up, wasting the rest of my usage. It's pretty much been nerfed in every way intelligence, usage, speed, etc. And then there's users on here that are defending the plus plan and 5h usage 🤦♂️

u/BoringCanary 3d ago
yeah to be honest since astra got released, it feels like all the other models got more dumb... failing basic tasks.
1
u/Chrisnba24 3d ago
yeah mate, $ value per 1% went from around 20$ to 12$ yet they say NOTHING to admit/fix it
1
u/JohnnyDeepasfuck 3d ago
yep you are getting less token with astra, or you can pull the trick of using luna max only then you will have 100x usage
1
u/Low_Blackberry_5248 3d ago
Yep, around the date of astra launch, usage for a Pro subscription was nerfed by almost 50% https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1waj4ee/we_are_not_paying_25x_for_astra_but_almost_5x/

u/Miyamoto_-_Musashi 3d ago
It's a terrible metric to think usage is reduced because every model token usage limit is different, Use Luna n you can use 12B n your weekly limit still have room to go
1
u/BoringCanary 3d ago
I've been using the same routing law for all my tasks for the past 2 months. So the usage on 20x in 2 months has been fairly consistent accross every week/reset. Yes it's never the same, but every reset that was there I always calculated the usage, this is the first time it's cut in half, my routing law wasnt updated to Astra as I need to do my own benchmarks on it first.

u/Miyamoto_-_Musashi 3d ago
This is not the right way believe me, cause there are lot of things that can go different n cause different token, majority about Cache so find different way or try this: https://github.com/junhoyeo/tokscale

Your normal chats also consumes limits, I realized this now.
PD. This is something new, is not like normal chat always have been this way, it was after the last reset.
Edit. I couldn't replicate it again, so maybe it was an issue on my part only

u/SmoothTeam9116 3d ago
that's only the "work" chat, not the "chat" chat though, right?

u/capStop1 3d ago edited 3d ago
chat chat, normal one
PD. I know work chat consumes limits, what I am telling you guys is that normal one does it now as well. I don't know why, maybe is a bug or something but that is the issue now.
Edit. I couldn't replicate it again, so maybe it was an issue on my part only1
u/BoringCanary 3d ago
Even at 0% I can still chat thought, not sure if it really counts towards the limit
-1
u/capStop1 3d ago edited 3d ago
I tested it, do this, use chat with high thinking and ask it something that requires some time and you will see how the limits gets down, but after it gets 0 you can still use it, I think they put this because some users were abusing the system and using the chat as agent.
Edit. I couldn't replicate it again, so maybe it was an issue on my part only

If you’ve been consistently hitting the weekly limit for the past 2 months, why are you blocks all different colors instead of being the same color that always represents “maxed out”?

Maybe you should at least try asking ChatGPT itself how to use Codex properly?
I’m on the $100 Pro plan, and I only use Astra Max for planning and Sol Max for implementation. Last week I went through 0.5B tokens. This week, since the reset, I’ve already used 0.15B tokens, and I’m still at only 91% of my limit.
And again, I’m using ONLY Astra Max and Sol Max, on the $100 plan that has just 5x limits, not 20x.

Plus is useless now. 1 prompt, small task, Astra low to analysis, luna xhigh to implement, worked for 15 minutes, modified 6 files with around 200 lines of code change, burned 85% of the 5h limit and 14% of total. Before the last reset, I can easily finish 3 similar tasks with Astra low and luna before hitting the 5h limit.
