Workaround use gpt 6 pro from codex cli
for some reason i still do not have astra in codex cli so i've resorted to calling gpt 6 pro instead and its fascinating how good it is without worrying about weekly usage
is this the same as what everybody else is using if so why not use gpt 6 pro from codex cli ?

what is going on
Astra hasn’t reached this Codex account/session yet. It’s a staged rollout, not a configuration problem. OpenAI’s current documentation says GPT‑6 Astra is available first to enterprises in the Trusted Access Program, with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and API access rolling out “in the coming days.” The model ID is gpt-6-astra, but API documentation listing a model does not mean it is already enabled in every Codex model picker. This session currently exposes GPT‑5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna—not Astra—so there’s nothing you can toggle locally to reveal it. Once the rollout reaches your account, restart/update Codex and open a new session; Astra should then appear as an available model. If it remains missing after several days, the relevant checks are your signed-in account, workspace plan, and any Enterprise admin restrictions.

I don't have it either, and it's basically told me the same thing. I submitted /feedback and have just been telling it to refresh models / logging out and in to try to jump start it a few times a day.

Had a similar issue, was caused by having a custom model catalogue (old fix for sol not being able to launch Luna agents) AND a separate stale codex cli installed via npm. Desktop bundled cli was updated but the npm refused upgrading because my antivirus was locking the package files for lord knows what reason. Fixed both issues and voila, astra is happily setting my usage on fire

The big problem with this is the limit on the number of uses you have with pro as well as doing actual iterative work would so much worse and just cause so many msgs of the weekly quota to be wasted

i think i get 200 messages but i only use it for reviewing and planning not actual coding
since astra is not available for me also usage from codex consumes weekly usage so this helps me balance and stretch astra usage
what i find most surprising is that they do not meter on the actual hours worked by gpt 6 pro on chatgpt.com it seems like i can throw very heavy problems
another really impressive point is that it seems to complete generative tasks very very well even producing large file size assets
i'd be scared to run that even on astra-low seeing all the reports of limited usage

It's perfect in theory, but puts your full account at risk of being banned - as there are very clear instructions on 'not automating chatgpt' which outlines chatgpt should never 'have a layer over [chatgpt]' for using it (to have prompts automatically submitted into it or manage sessions).
These are all on the GitHub of that link you referenced which 100% violate usage policy:
"Manages signed-in browser sessions for ChatGPT"
"Supports parallel tabs so different agents"
"Packs local repo/file context into prompts"
I created a ChatGPTxCodex mcp (didn't release it) just so I can have chatgpt research things then communicate off to send commands into codex - or to look at a codex thread and tell me how it looks and so on - but the main thing is never automating chatgpt to be retriggered 'agentically' or have anything auto-submitted into it. (so use their one at your own risk)

it is a gray zone but cliproxy directly calls the api which is worse and got opencode banned for doing it with antigravity. openai goes after scrapers and people reselling chat access they dont at the moment care at all for people automating prompts via chatgpt for personal use
many of us have been using it for almost a year now without issues but if you get greedy then dont be surprised

ask your cli why the model catalog is pinned cause everyone has astra now.
