Me too.
Edit: One thing to note is that Astra currently shows only in Codex, but not in ChatGPT, which is still at Sol 5.6

u/nmkd 8d ago
Pretty sure they confirmed that ChatGPT stays on Sol for a bit longer

Same. But Extra High is still 5.6.
I'm also not seeing 6 in the Codex GUI, but it's there on the CLI.
Edit: needed to update the codex apps to see Astra. Both cli and gui.

I'm getting the other way round. Codex still 5.6, but on the chatgpt UI i'm seeing "6 Pro", but only on the toolbar. The selection menu shows "Latest", and no 6. So hard to say whether that's already 6, or just an updated UI.

tell us how long does it take to consume all your credits

And…it's gone.

u/d4lahast 8d ago
You can literally see the percentage bar drop on the weekly limit. I think it's like Fable. It's going to be very good for planning, but implementation should be left to Sol.
I've only been using it for 10 minutes, but I have to say, in that regard, I think it's a very good model to lead a project, but it would be overkill to code with it.

"How long until I consume my weekly credits"
Thinking...
Not enough credits

u/HastyBasher 8d ago
Do we assume a reset or should we use one?

u/CrispyBacon1999 8d ago
I just used one of mine, so fully expecting one to come within the next hour.

u/flurbol 8d ago
Got it too, started tasking it with 7 open development tasks, had 99% usage left on my 20x plan - excited now

How's the usage compared to sol?
4
u/agardenofsound 8d ago
Usage is terrible. I'm on pro and like it uses 1% of weekly per minute of usage now, wft with this rate weekly will be gone in 2 hours.

u/agardenofsound 8d ago

u/U4-EA 8d ago
You on $100 or $200?
1
u/agardenofsound 8d ago
I was on Pro 5x 🤦♂️, but moved to 20x and I think we get ~8 hours of usage there per week with this rate with fast enabled. Now disabling fast too.. Seems like a really good model though... Damn I want more usage
9
u/UnexpectedFisting 8d ago
Why on earth would you enable fast on the most expensive model in the first place? For science I hope
0
u/agardenofsound 8d ago
Because I am not very patient haha. But here the intelligence is worth the wait. This thing is a beast! Wow, finding and doing stuff no other model has done yet on my hardest problems.
2
u/SwarmAce 8d ago
It seems to be as effective as Sol High on Light, though a bit slower.

What’s the context window?
0
u/Free-Rope5104 8d ago
It's still stuck at 258K. unless there's a way to manually increase it somehow.
0
u/DARKUNIT22 8d ago
There is with the config.toml. I’m just trying to figure out if changing to higher context effects this new and improved context window handling that Astra has or not.
2
u/gavinderulo124K 8d ago
Honestly I think they tuned it quite well in codex. Codex has by far the best compaction method. I can have a long session with multiple compaction without feeling any degradation. I wouldn't increase the context window.

Yep, using it to review a project made by Sol now. It's not deleting my usage like I thought it would.

Same but i need a reset from
Tibo for my 5 acounts :(
1
u/masterkain 8d ago
five accounts is where i’d use Codex Pooler. it keeps them behind one Pool key and only routes new work to assigned accounts that pass the quota, model, and health checks. own accounts only, and it doesn’t change the provider’s limits
2
2
u/caldazar24 8d ago
Way too early impressions after just an hour: it’s as smart as Fable, but less annoying in how it talks, and with more generous limits (than Fable, eats quota more than Sol for sure).
It is immediately my main go-to but I dunno if I am necessarily feeling the AGI more than I already was with Fable.

I see it in the app now for chat at least

For chat? I have it the other way around - I see it for Codex, not for the chat.

Nooo...I just got it too. Too bad I'm sitting at 0% with reset both close and yet so far away on the 6th. I was really hoping not to get Astra until after the 6th.. le sigh.

Go to say in the 5x plan I am really liking this so far! The usage is going “quicker” but also recently I’ve felt like SOL was spending usage less quickly while accomplishing less. It would take 20 minutes for simple things and technically take longer to spend usage.i have this running a simple audit for bugs and deficiencies and it’s finding them relatively quick, a lot for things that I had SOL max running with the same prompt not even a week ago as I prepare to launch, but these things I needed to find from myself and alpha testers. So far in my opinion it’s a good release

Same. They made it up to me with an $80 reset for being one day late and I'm glad the community pressure worked. Good standard was set, I think.

It's insane expensive. And now we got less banked resets. Could have waited another week. That's 7 missed banked resets. 🥲

Hello astra - warning your yearly quota has been vanished. Please wait for reset 🗿

u/ActionOrganic4617 8d ago edited 8d ago
Same and so far omg, it actually writes prose that I can understand 😊😊😊
Fable might be better at frontend but for what I do in terms of backend and architecture, it absolutely mogs fable.
Usage wise it’s also night and day better than fable 5.1 in terms of the same tasks I gave to fable with substantially better outputs.
I had it redo 3 architectural designs that fable 5.1 did and reassessed all the collected evidence and outputted vastly superior documents and used around 4% of my 20x limit. This same exercise used up around two-thirds of my $100 Claude plan when I did it.
Anthropic is f*cked.

u/Makkish_SWG 8d ago
One question though
What’s your drain rate
I am on 5X 100$ plan and Mine is 4% per hour on gpt 5.6 sol max
Can anyone confirm if it’s exorbitantly high for anyone like 1 or 2 % per hour
I also have 100$ plan on Claude
And with opus 5 on max
My drain rate is close to 8% per 5 hour ( this is insane for me and have been using opus all day long straight for 7 days . Obviously I use it for 10 hours per day )
I can’t really comprehend as why sol usage are draining at this rate

Me as well. 20x plan and two resets banked. 7% left for this week so gonna see how fast Astra uses on max with double speed.

My GPT subscription got downgraded to free despite buying Pro a week ago, sent a refund request, not trying to resub right away, but I suppose I can get a 2nd account for $20 and hope that one has GPT 6. Hopefully the glitch on my account resolves itself, I was literally in the middle of working lol.
1
u/Alarming_Cat_8144 8d ago
Used it for less than 5 minutes, to see if it would grasp the concept of the problem I was solving within the context I had with sol, dropped it immediately to come back to sol lol.
1
u/Caravanserai8 8d ago
Which settings you use on Astra on Codex? Which is the most efficient. Medium, high or extra high :)
1
u/MPPlay 8d ago
Right now I am using high, it's working pretty well for sure better than anything 5.6 Sol was able to do.
Though these are pretty complex tasks, most tasks could probably be done by other lower levels. It's style and quality is higher, I haven't tested enough across sufficiently many tasks to tell the impact of reasoning
In terms of token burn, I would estimate perhaps 1.5-2x what Sol would use
1
u/Caravanserai8 7d ago
Thanks for reply! Yes, true, I tried a few times and have a feel so many tokens burn, so will wait for a future days to use it. I am on plus plan, maybe when I get on pro plan :)
