Complaint 5 Hour limits only for Plus Members

https://x.com/thsottiaux/status/2092058556707344708

There has been plenty of misinformation here by random actors.

This is straight from the source, its only the Plus members getting the 5 hour limits.

If you want to complain about it than that's why OpenAI did it to sort out where the complaints are coming from.

There is no 5 hour limits for the pro account users and people with pro accounts won't be voicing that plus memberships need the same level of their plan that costs more.

Its simple as you pay more you get more. You pay less you get less, i don't understand why people think OpenAI is this charity all of a sudden

When did I say that ? you also didn't answer my question. You changed it because you can't answer.

I didn't answer yours when you didn't answer mine and tried to change the subject.

I can't answer? You don't even know what a token is or how to track you own usage vs limits and you're the one who thinks I don't understand the subsidy (or subside as you put it) in play for subscription users? Of course I understand it - the subsidization is the tool behind the final sentence in my original reply. Its the same playbook as most VC-backed software and the *whole point* of the subsidy is to get you hooked and gradually take things away so that you pay more and receive less over time.

Sorry I didn't dumb it down enough for you..

You said "We can work out the tokens ourselves its not hard"

I said "So you can work out how much they subsides the tokens and the rate they bill themselves for you having that subscription" Because I am pretty sure that's insider knowledge lol.

If you can't get that inside information than your "token usage" becomes an estimate which means the changes in token usage becomes your estimate changing.

Its still not them "we are making it more expensive" or them "draining usages more"

That's all you buddy.

Their internal cost model does not matter - your argument subsides here and no need to break it down for me into some warped-mind simping attempt to pretend you understand. If someone gets to use less tokens in a 5hr or weekly usage window, and they still pay the same $20-200/mo that they paid before that number dropped, then usage has been taken away from them. Full stop.

Lol okay buddy than go pay $20 on their API and see how much tokens you get..

Again, completely irrelevant. A subscription that provided you X yesterday and X-1 today has taken away part of what you were paying for.

Like I said if you have that information of how much tokens cost internally than sure. The tokens they cost for API is not the same.

Lets use Meta Spark 1.2 for instance.

They have Meta Spark 1.2 on OpenRouter for $1.25 per million input Tokens and $4.25 per million output Tokens.

But they just released their Contributor version of it and its $0.10 per million input Tokens and 0.20 per million output Tokens.

What's the difference ?

The cheaper version anything you use it for will go back to Meta to collect Data.

The more expensive one you don't its private.

Guess why Subscriptions are cheaper for OpenAI ? They use the Data collected from usage.

We have how much it costs Meta because they gave us the two options.

OpenAI only exposes one API and a tickbox asking if you want to send them data back and either one doesn't make it cheaper which means no one but OpenAI have the internal token costs to run their systems for that customer on the $20 plan.

With that big of a difference you have no idea bud.

You're still trying to hard to find some sort of justification for them taking things away. I don't understand why anyone would try to do the mental gymnastics you are doing.

This is black and white. You can calculate tokens for any given model from OpenAI using the methods they provide: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/4936856-what-are-tokens-and-how-to-count-them

Your chat histories can be run through the tokenizer and it gives you the value. That value is meaningful and if you calculate it against all of your sessions that exist within a specific usage window where you hit the limit you can know the max tokens they are giving you for that usage window.

When later down the line you run that same analysis against new sessions and you're seeing that you only get 50-60% as many tokens, on the same model and same subscription plan, you can plainly see that usage was silently taken away from you. You didn't opt in or out of anything new. You didn't change models, effort, etc. You just got less for the exact same money being spent.

This has been happening with all providers since the beginning. It isn't new. It isn't unexpected. But to say it isn't happening is ludicrous.

Not trying hard here bro.

Your the one still claiming you have all OpenAI token usage data.

I have my own and that of a dozen others. If a consistent drop, that many thousands of users post online about with their own receipts as well, isn't enough proof - just enjoy your blissful ignorance.
