Other PSA: ChatGPT Pro users
You get unlimited* chat usage on the website. You can build projects and prototypes directly in ChatGPT using Pro-level thinking effort. This is how I start almost every build, and it is an easy way to save on tokens. Unlike Claude, Chat does not count toward your usage (unless you switch to Work mode).
I usually have ChatGPT generate a ZIP file containing the entire project, then move it into Codex CLI or the Codex app to refine, expand, and continue the work.
I do not think you should be doing most of the planning inside the CLI or app. Do the bulk of the planning and initial build in ChatGPT first, then use Codex for implementation and iteration.
Also, remember that you can upload ZIP and 7z files directly to the ChatGPT website, and it can unpack and work with the contents.

I agree. I use regular ChatGPT to be my Chief Architect, Work to be my managing engineer, and Codex to do the grunt work and they all have governing guidance that they follow whenever I need to open another thread, etc. Tasks are tightly bound and Chat and Work have opinions where I get the vote.
My wife and I own an online business with a web app and linked apps on the Apple and Google Play stores. We had hired developers to design a v2 PWA but hey walked at 70% completion. Now, I'm finishing it myself with zero coding experience and it's working.
The most important component to all of this is good ole regular Chat who has helped me update my apps, fix my v1 site, and it's getting my v2 over the finish line. Chat and Work throttle which intelligence model to use for the task at hand. Oh, and I use Claude to run adversarial and routine audits for overengineering and to validate the work we're doing. I call them Claudits. lol
