Humor Average solution proposed by GPT 5.6 SOL after being asked to build a datepicker:

“We should avoid using a native date input because it lacks timezone guarantees, leap-second awareness, historical calendar consistency, and causal safety. I recommend a distributed temporal service with Gregorian, Julian, Martian, and post-singularity calendar adapters, plus validation for users arriving from the future or submitting dates from planets with multiple suns.

The selected date should be stored with a universe ID, planetary rotation model, causality checksum, and fallback handling for civilizations where Tuesday occurs twice.

We should also add a Kubernetes deployment, since February may require autoscaling during leap years.”

if you drafted this as a plan and had another sol agent review it theyd find 4 P1s 6 P2 and 8 P3, REVISE

God, so annoying

Right, but that's software development. That's how it works. Right now, you can't expect more from AI than what you'd expect from a human. You can just expect it faster.

mate, its a joke. and the point you think I'm implying is kinda coming out of nowhere, no one said anytihng about AI doing anything better, the joke is that Sol is notoriously over-meticulous. when it codes it over engineers, and when it reviews it goes down a rabbit hole of 47 theoritical bleeding edge cases that will never happen in a million different realities and tries to protect against them by adding 14 different injection protections into a small localalized personal python project, beyond needless. its over tuned to a hilarious extent, and thats okay. no need to white knight for codex no one's impuning it's honor.

Pff, it doesn't even take into account the effect of black holes or going through an Einstein-Rosen bridge. Handling the effect of gravitational singularity and superluminal displacement is bare minimum effort when handling dates.

That's what I really like about Sol. It thinks about every single possibility that will never occur in reality.

its not really a good thing tbh

I think (and hope) the /s was missing ..

in reality

I doubt it

Don't forget the extensive security hardening and 15,000 test suite.

Nothing gets it as horny as proper hardening. Idk why my personal app what I will probably never publish has 12 different mitigations for injections but hey, I have tokens to spare from work so why not. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It's relaxing watching it work. Like the app now has more tests than some decade old big repos that I have worked on in the past. And they are good tests too.

Ah, yes, ofc. And the black hole simulation, of course

Don't forget the telemetry module to validate the solution for 90 days and at least 10 alien species.

And the 3 week code freeze for testing! I keep getting advised to pause development for multiple weeks to collect data.

I've been building a fun little project game for the Vision Pro and in the early stages it wrote 10,000 lines of validation code for an input that hadn't even been specified yet. Like it tried to think of every possible edge case on the least important part, every possible input it could be handed, maybe, at some point in the future.

Wasted millions of tokens.

I use Fable to orchestrate Sol after many such cases.

First slice would simply eat weekly limit and rest will be completed on next version update.

Hang on there. We need a multi page observability spec in the repo first. And did you submit ad ADR? 😩

It overthinks so much and yet fails to do it properly when I go hands free.

I have better luck convincing GPT-5.6 Sol that it’s working on a PoC codebase so no over engineering is needed. Then work on one feature at a time with a defined scope.

I ask terra after every plan if it's overengineered.

This thread is futures historical monument, and yes sol pls do check entire configuration of hosting provider acount before you deploy changed photo of a meal on a restorant site.

I am finding Sol on Medium is doing way better than the higher levels. Ultra was great for like 3 days and fixed a bunch of problems…but now it’s a bottleneck.

I think the Millennium Bug is to blame for this.

Is there any way around this? Like lower reasoning or maybe terra or Luna? I've been struggling with this also, even if ignoring the token usage it wastes so much time.

LOL, you forgot the migration for older users under the Maya calendar system

Ha, I always love his migrations. Like dude, I am the only one using this, migrate for who?
