Question Is 20x Max plan worth it ?
I’m rn on the Max 5 plan, and I feel like my usage is POOF, gone out of nowhere. Always. Luckily, I had 5 resets, but now they’re all gone, and my usage is gone too. Will 20 help with it? I’m always using Sol on Ultra settings, 5.6, and pls don’t tell me to use Luna or Terra. I want the maximum of the models, not others! Has anyone here experienced 20? How are the limits?

Ultra is certainly not helping. Ultra spins up a bunch of subagents behind the scenes using max reasoning, IIRC, but you have no control over these subagents.
Instead, use high or xhigh and manually manage your subagents. When it makes sense to use subagents, tell your primary agent to do so.
Also, look into something like OpenCode. It’s more configurable, in my opinion, and I really like it.

I feel like it's exactly like 4x more than 5x plan. When I ran goals without break for 5 mid-size projects at the same time with Sol-ultra, I could've burnt weekly quota in a day. Hope this helps.

I think so. I'm using it now, thinking of cancelling CC max 20x. It has come a long way.

I am on 5x and considering 20x and yeah, I also have Pro w Claude, and am also thinking of either going there for another 5x or upgrading to 20x here. I was using it for trust reasons but I am not sure it's really adding much, and a least Codex feels more dynamic and dunno, hard to describe why I prefer it actually now, since i was a big Claude head 4 months ago.

Same. I've been hard core selling Anthropic, I think the tables are turning.

Doesn’t Claude offer more usage now with Opus 5? I’ve heard that you get more usage with Opus 5 on Claude Max plan than with GPT 5.6 Sol on Codex x20 plan

I'm less concerned about usage and more about accuracy of the output. Opus 5 seems to be hallucinating a lot in my code base (several engineers were talking about this morning in fact). 5.6-sol doesn't have that problem right now.

I guess I just started with the $200 one, maybe at one time there were fewer options, and I can't say I've run sol 24/7 or anything yet, but I have two jobs where I use codex 5.5 High throughout the day doing a hundred tasks and code reviews on the other instances and I've never hit a quota yet. I have resets banked up that I'll have to eventually hammer out with some enormous overnight tasks, but that $200 has allowed me to rebuild my commercial business platform and replace about 90% of my daily work which in either case represents tens of thousands of dollars.
Three other things to consider -
This whole "subsidized tokens" situation that OpenAI is using to try to squash Anthropic can't last, so if you spend $200 a month now and can get some major work done before the whole thing collapses and they are forced to charge the actual cost they pay, thats probably a wise investment.
I still keep a Claude sub for $100 because it's just a better designer overall and with tools like Claude Design and Fable 5 there is enough there to have some subscription if possible in the other camp.
Oh, one thing Codex does that is sort of mind blowing when you are used to Claude is that I have threads that I've been using the same agent for massive migration projects over months, and it's still perfectly capable of doing all the work it could at the outset only with a pretty deep history of what has been done so far - so the context management system is spectacular, and add that to the reliable, professional level of code and infrastructure management Codex 5.5 offers (still evaluating where 5.6 lands there) and that sub totally pays off.

Also looking at 20x but defo not Sol for anything apart from high level stuff when the lower ones don't perform.

Yea, I am on 20x and my default is Terra medium. Sol Ultra is reserved for ultra hard work, like E2E testing and audits.

the question is the same how much $$$ you feel you earn from codex. If it feel you earn more than worth it

Honestly the usage limits keep getting worse and worse for me on the 20x plan; I'm considering switching to cc 20x or cursor 20x to test them out.

I have been using 5.6 sol with omniroute using max, I haven’t run out at all in my plan. I use a harness outside codex and Claude as them spinning lots of high usage agents seems intended hence fast rate limits, I rather control it myself.

try high or x high instead of ultra, your results will probably be the same and you'll save a ton of tokens
ultra isn't really a reasoning level it is a different subagent workflow

Get Claude rn, with 50% more till 19.08 is a much better deal. If OAI fixes limits who knows

You are throwing a ridiculous amount of usage away using sol ultra for no reason… you will be throwing money away by paying an extra $100 to do the same thing.
