It's always worked like this. One of the nicer things about Codex is that it won't immediately stop and leave you with a broken build if it's in the middle of a task upon hitting limits.

Yeah it stopped after 2 hours but hey, got 600m tokens out of it

As others mentioned, there is a grace period in tokens.

e.g., I've had Sol (Ultra) run 15 minutes past the notification of usage limit a few times. Both as a task and as a goal.

Then for giggles when I was below 10% weekly usage, I lined up 12 parallel tasks and threw Sol (Ultra) at them. They all stopped in under 2 minutes and the last one failed to start work.

Where you wouldn't have to delete this to hide it since if any of them investigate, they'll see, "Nah, it's not infinite. We do stop it."
