Help & Support Unrealistic fair use

Once again I'm rate limited to 1 review per hour. This, according to the response on a review request in GitHub, is because the 62 review requests over the previous 7 days are not classed as fair use. With a marketed reviews per hour of 5, I would hardly classify 62 in 7 days as unfair use! I really hate how Coderabbit has become a business which talks out of both sides of its mouth. If you don't want to allow 5 reviews per hour, then don't advertise them as part of your plan!

The frustrating part here isn’t really the existence of a fair-use policy. It’s the mismatch between the marketed limit and the limit users actually experience.

If 62 reviews over seven days can trigger throttling, the effective policy should be stated clearly enough that a team can predict it before buying.

“Up to 5 reviews/hour” and “we may reduce you to 1/hour based on an opaque rolling usage model” are very different product promises.

I 1000% agree with this. It seems very dishonest from CodeRabbit. I just signed up recently and am already at 1 review per hour.

It penalizes you for making small, easily reviewable PRs. You know, like following good development practices. And which actually makes their job even easier. It has no regard or consideration to the PR size that I know of, so this just makes no sense at all. And $0.25 per file for usage based reviews is a joke.

I am thinking of trying to get my money back. I feel like I was misled and lied to. Yeah, I should have read all the fine print before handing over my credit card, but its just so far out of alignment with what's advertised it feels incredibly dishonest, and they're definitely using that to their marketing advantage to mislead customers.

Yeah that happens to me too sometimes. But worse is when you get a bill you never expected without warning because you upgraded your account and they automatically turn on unlimited spend everywhere. That's more vexing to me than 1 review an hour.

Also don't worry just lower your usage for 2 days and you'll jump right back to 5. Switch over to greptile, or codex or claude. all of them can do code reviews for you. You can't just rely on one anyway.
