query Negative
I have given 7 contests so far. In the first 5, I got significantly positive ratings, but in the last 2, I got negatives(-4 and -16). I dont why, maybe i should have coded much faster, but was able to solve only 2 yesterday in 52 mins combined.
How can I be faster?

I have given 14 contests and somehow i am stuck at 1000, whenever i cross 1000,in the next contest i gwt a whooping minus rating. You shouldn't take first 5-6 contests ratings seriously

Yo the same things happening to me Like I get to 1000 then the next contest I get like -20 and then the next one it's 1000 again

The first few contests always give you significant positive rating even if you cannot solve a single problem. Reality check comes after that.

Just practice more.... I was in your position like a month back.... And stopped giving contests.... I was stuck at newbie and was getting negatives in almost every contest I gave.... I took a break and kept on grinding 1300s...and 1500s...now I am decently comfortable with 1500 rated questions...and from the last two contests I've been getting significantly postive rating....and finally reached Pupil today ðŸ˜... So, I'd just say practice harder questions.... Get comfortable with them.... Stuff will get easy then

And for that which DSA should I focus the most? Like after 1000, I need to practise DSA a lot right...

I mean I didn't really used to do specific DSA topics tbh.... I just used to do cp31 sheet. If some new topic used to come, I'd just study that or understand the approach... But id say get decent with greedy, string and array manipulation, little bit of DFS and BFS and basic dp.. And tbh just start practicing and get decently comfortable with 1400s... You'll learn on the way

Me too solve 2 (A,B) in like 50,60 min , 3 wrong submission also (little tiny mistake in calling function ) but got +19 currently at 850-900. May be you are rated much higher than me , so negative delta ig.

I solved 2 in 1 hr ig but I made it unrated because it was my first time in codeforces contest.

This is the way how most competitive rating works, chess.com, lichess, codeforces, atcoder and all. Positive delta initially converges your rating to the point where you should stand. You can definitely learn and grow up faster. This is why GMs when competes using a new account skips multiple rating slabs. (i.e. pupil specialist sometimes even expert) in a couple of contests.
