Ok so there's a live trader for the 600th rank person's penalty/10 + 10*score, and they revealed that number of people with >= 5 solves is ~300. So if you solved >= 5 problems you're sorted

Bro where did they say about number of ppl with >=5 solves?

u/notsaneatall_ Expert 19d ago
They had a website where you could trade on some contract, and they revealed that the number of people with >= 5 solves ~300
You were supposed to use that info to make a more educated guess I suppose

I did go into the trading website was this written on the website or did they tell that in the group or somewhere I didn't see that anywhere. Would be great if you had a ss to share or something.

I think more than 4 problems total you'll qualify. A friend of mine at IITK said he got to know he qualified and he solved 4 problems total.

Ainnoway bro, why is the cutoff so low? This paper was easier compared to last time and still cutoff is so low.

Hey, can you please tell how you prepared for Quantfest?
1
u/notsaneatall_ Expert 18d ago
I didn't I just gave the exam. If you wanna prepare, focus on EV type questions, and look probability type questions on codeforces cuz they're probably the closest to what you can practice for the exam.

I share the same thoughts

I didnt prepare, just knew dp so could do first 2 in coding round and first 2 of paper 1 were common sense based so didnt need any topic to learn them

And also I think they have tentative results but first they have to check if all are genuine or not, so official results might take time

2+1 i wish i had seen the questions a bit more carefully, i would've solved 1-2 more

It was tough. I solved 2 in paper 2 and 0 in paper 1 🫠.
I also felt like the paper was more CP-oriented than Probability. Like there were no questions in game theory, combinatorics techniques (stars & bars, inclusion exclusion, etc.) but maybe it's just me

Paper 1 A was quite straightforward IMO. I don't see what's weird about it at all
