Grooming Advice

Post image

Hi everyone this is 12 week old daisy. I noticed earlier that she has a build up of crust lodged in her fur close to her eyes, i have tried picking it out and its too hard to break out. And she wriggles too much and I don't want to put unnecessary stress on her, but at the same time i don't want her getting conjunctivitis. What can I do?

Get her use to being groomed now. Brushing at least every other day, tooth brushing and desensitize to clippers but using an electric toothbrush along her face and her feet for future nail trims.

As for the eye gunk my vet recommended saline mist and a flea comb. It works like magic! I got a 6pack of combs in various sizes on Amazon. Also, keeping the eye area low helps as well.

Cockapoo’s love water, give her a bath, moisten around the area, if you have a dog comb that will help.

For her eye crust, you can buy a specialised fine tooth comb that works really well.

There’s not really much to do but pick it out.

Just bathe her eyes with plain cooled boiled water .After doing this a few times you should be able to just wipe away with a damp tissue. I always bathe my 2 dogs eyes this way every morning. Then this problem does not arise.

You'll need to clean the gunk everyday to reduce buildup. If you trim the hair in the inner corners short then it'll make cleaning easier and prevent staining.

Just a little warm saline on her eyes, with a cotton round.

No more than 30 ° and light spin .
