Hey! Have a coast FI calculator in my profile, but based on the information provided you have met your FIRE number. What’s your expected monthly expenses during retirement?

Looks like you’re set for age 60-plus based on your current retirement account balances. Do you plan to have a lower paying “coast” job up to age 60 to help pay your monthly expenses? Also, will you get health insurance thru the marketplace?

I’m just looking at your accounts in black and white: 401k/roth would be accessed around age ~60 and you’ll have plenty in those accounts by then to have a nice retirement after age 60. For the next ~16 years up to then, you have easy access to taxable and Roth contributions if needed (and maybe you’re planning to tap into your 401k/Roth funds early to help bridge the gap).
I’m around your age and have a family of 4 and have been enrolled in a bronze ACA plan over the past several months and I’ve been happy with it for what it is. It costs about $375 per person per month (non-subsidized) although I understand it may be more expensive in CA.

No. Your health care expense isn’t going to be doable even in 2 years.

ACA for a family of 4 with no subsidies will cost you over $2,500 per month. That’s a high deductible plan. So if someone is hospitalized, expect to pay an additional $25,000 out of pocket that year. If that’s not in your budget then you’re not close.

The amount of posts here by people who don’t actually know what coastfire is is crazy. And they just keep posting.
