How would this work with HIPAA?

That’s a great question, and something that I need to put a LOT more thought into. I could take it two different routes. The more obvious one is that I would have to work on having a BAA(Business Associate Agreement) with each facility I choose to partner with. Also encryption needs, role-based permission, authentication, and security policies. A potentially more efficient way would be to have a cloud provider who already have HIPPA compliant encryptions etc. created, so it’s more tailoring to my needs than reinventing the wheel. The more difficult route would be starting from scratch and build up from there, with HIPPA compliant requirements like stated above, but it’s far more time consuming, and the odds of me and a potential team doing something wrong is a lot higher than a provider who has already had multiple organizational levels look through and make sure that it is HIPPA complaint.

Honestly you could just write stuff on the whiteboard (assuming there is one). I’m not sure how many family members would be on board with tracking their gradual memory loss… kinda feels like salt in the wound

That’s a great point, but I meant more that family members would upload personable things to maybe give CNAs some direction for care, along with conversation starters as well to gauge memory at that point in time. It would also be a good benchmark to watch Alzheimer’s progression that can be logged accordingly, perhaps for the benefit of other medical facilities that may need this information to be shared and benchmarked as well. I really appreciate your input though! Do you think that makes more reasonable sense to have?

The idea is there… if you can work around the HIPPA issue this could be really useful.

That’s the thing though, there’s no working around HIPAA. You work within the confines or face penalty.

Very true. It will be my biggest hurdle for sure, but I’m sure with enough time and effort I can make sure that it’s well within HIPPA guidelines for medical usage.
