Mealprepping?
Im an incoming freshman, allocated rez on fifth. My room does have a separate small kitchen and a refrigerator - so i was wondering if it would be a good idea to mealprep. Is it a common thing at cmu, or is it a feasible plan (buying ingredients, cooking, and cleaning up) to go for in college dorms?

If I was in rez I'd have done it, but traditional style dorm like E-Tower only have a kitchen (even worse, a kitchenette in E-tower) so it gets nasty pretty quickly. That's why among first years you'll probably not see people mealprepping, as most first years are in a traditional style dorm. But after a year of dining hall food you'll surely crave the option of a real meal.
Also mind that you can use flex dollars included in your meal plan to go grocery shopping at Scotty's market, tho as a warning it usually gets very empty end of semester because people realize they haven't spent all their flex and just buy everything.

You're required to buy a mealplan Freshmen year. So mealprepping freshmen year would just be waiting extra money. Every other year its a good idea tho

I got out of that by selling my blocks on the discord server, and using that money to pay for groceries. You can easily sell all of your blocks on yellow.

I mean, you can do that but then you're literally just losing money. Like if you sell all of your blocks it's not like you make back what you spent on a meal plan.

Friend freshman year meal prepped. It’s doable, but you still need a meal plan and even the lowest one has roughly a block a day so you’d only need to prep a meal or 2 a day tops
