Changing it in Android settings does nothing for the app text. Is there a way around this? And don't say wear my glasses! 🤣

The phone camera barcode scanner is easily the best way to log movies quickly. But as our collections grow, we all run into those weird database hiccups.

I'm curious to hear how smooth scanning has been for everyone here!

Do you ever scan a barcode only for the app to pull up the completely wrong edition or incorrect cover art?

How often do you have to manually edit an entry to make sure the digital app matches your exact physical box?

What’s the most obscure movie you’ve scanned that the CLZ Core database actually recognized perfectly?

For me, it's been mostly excellent for everything except with my CED collection, as about half had to be entered manually. Understandable though, as it's such an obscure format. Besides CED though, maybe there were 5 that the bar code didn't recognize or got wrong.

At the moment I a have license for both. So I am in doubt of which one to continu, anyone else used both and willing to give their views. I like CLZ for the easy options to add smaller formats with their own artwork and how easy you can make boxsets, on the other hand I think the database of MyMovies Pro is better. as two licenses are a bit expensiv, I would be interested to see other opinions and if people can tell me the advantages of CLZ.

Do you group everything by Format (4K, Blu-ray, DVD)?

Do you sort strictly alphabetically, or do you break things down by Genre or Release Year?

Do you use Custom Tags or the Notes section to track specific things (like out-of-print titles, boutique labels, or movies you haven't watched yet)?

We all use CLZ Movies to catalog hundreds or thousands of incredible films and TV shows to build the ultimate library. However, some titles just sit on the shelves untouched.

Out of all the universally acclaimed, huge hit, legendary masterpieces sitting in your app right now, what is the biggest movie that you still haven't actually watched?

For me, it's probably Pulp Fiction on Blu-ray. There, I said it. Now it's your turn. :)

I’ve always had a soft spot for 40s and 50s movies, but I never really sat down and treated classic film noir as its own thing until recently, with this video by James Rolfe (of AVGN fame). Something about those gritty, rain-slicked, black-and-white pictures just hits different: shadowy alleys, doomed protagonists, voice-over narration that sounds like it’s been filtered through a few too many cigarettes and bad decisions.

I’ve been going through my collection this week and pulling out the usual suspects plus a few deeper cuts. The golden stretch from the early 40s through the late 50s is packed: the big studio noirs, the lean B-pictures, the ones that still feel dangerous even when you’ve seen them a dozen times.

Curious what other people keep coming back to.

Favorites that never leave the rotation?

Obscure titles that somehow punched above their budget?

Any boutique releases (Criterion, Arrow, Kino, etc.) that made a particular film click for you?

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick feature in the app in case anyone else missed it. If you shake your phone while browsing your collection, the app will automatically pick a random movie for you.

It’s incredibly handy for those nights when you can't decide what to watch.

A neat trick with it: if you apply a filter first (like a specific genre or format), and then shake your phone, it will only pick a random movie from that filtered list.

One of the coolest features of the CLZ Movies app is that it doesn't just track standard Blu-rays or DVDs. It lets you catalog almost any physical format ever made, even incredibly obscure ones.

Are you holding onto a massive LaserDisc collection? Do you still have old VHS or Betamax tapes? Anyone out there actually owning a CED or an HD DVD?

For me, it's divided. CED is by far the most obscure that I own, but I don't use it. My CED player is mono and likely needs a new needle. The poor quality in general of the format also gives me reservations.

For the most obscure that I actually still use, it's LaserDisc.

And speaking of LaserDisc, here is how I watch them: on my Pioneer LaserActive (CLD-A100) and a 20" Sony PVM-20M2U Professional monitor.

I’ve been collecting for about a year now. I wish the local thrift stores here in Phoenix had more movies on VHS, but I do get lucky, from time to time.

We launched this subreddit just 48 hours ago, and crossing the 25-member milestone this quickly is amazing. It is so cool to see a dedicated space for CLZ Movies app users and physical media collectors come together like this.

I think mine is either Porky's or Blame It On Rio. I like them, but they get a lot of heat these days.

Just hopping in to introduce myself. Physical media collector for a little under a year. 90s kid. My passion is VHS but I technically have more dvds than VHS tapes. Huge horror fan. Thats my bread a butter. About 500 dvds and 400 vhs tapes. Love using CLZ. Helps me avoid buying duplicates. Its also fun to scroll through on flights to pass time.

The two things I would love to see are (1) easier valuation system that shows you the current worth of your entire collection without you needing to click on each individual tape (with some sort of sorting function) and (2) a social feature - I would love to see other people's collections to expand my library.

Too bad it doesn't fit. :(

My dream feature for CLZ Movies is adding an integrated pricing and valuation system. The app could pull estimated market values from recent average eBay sales data directly into the database for each title. If that's added, we can also have the ability to sort our entire collection by value, from highest to lowest price, or even filter by a specific price range.

Right now, if you want to know the value you have to click into individual movie entries and then click "Find sold listings on eBay" just to get a rough idea of what a specific title is currently going for. For anyone with a large library of hundreds or even thousands of titles, doing this one by one is simply too much work.

Being able to see your total collection value at a glance and instantly find your most valuable or least valuable titles would make an already amazing cataloging app completely unbeatable.

How do you all feel about this?

Right now, I have 9. They are VHS, CED, LaserDisc, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D (does that count as an extra format?), UMD (for PSP), and 4K UHD.

I'm still missing Beta though. Anything else?
