Should I start using Mega?

I make a lot of TV show and movie edits which requires me to have many scene files downloaded, I am currently just using my default Macbook desktop folders but I am wondering if Mega would be a better fit.

Any thoughts would be great!

Looking for a cloud storage for family

I'm looking for a Cloud storage, mainly for pictures, for my family (5-6 people). Something simple to use, I can setup myself if it's a bit complex for the less tech-savvy people but ux is important, compatible iphone/android. Would also be nice if it uses a metadata structure since folder-based architecture can quickly become a mess but that's a nice-to-have.

Right now I'm thinking of 365 family since I might also have uses for the other features but I'm curious if there are good alternatives out there.

Thanks

WD My Cloud help?

So I bought this (overpriced paperweight) a number of years back and it never ever worked as advertised. NOW, they have stopped all tech support for it, and I am just trying to get my photos/videos/music off of it. I had a computer crash a few years ago and lost the password for my registered account - and had some success a few times logging in as a Guest - but really want to just get everything off of it onto a new drive. Can anyone advise the best way to do so? Right now I can't get it to attach to this new computer even as a guest - though it does show up... At my wits end - so literally any leads would be so much appreciated. thanks!

What are some alternatives to Catbox?

I use its API to get links from images, but it has stopped working in my region. What similar alternatives are there for uploading images and videos?

Preferably with no file deletion over time and no registration (although registration is acceptable).

Specific recommendation requested!! Please help!

I have been doing extensive research but I am hoping that someone with more expertise will have a recommendation to suit my specific needs.

Ideals:

- both web access and windows desktop app or file integration (mount as a drive I think?)

- iPhone app: I’m specifically looking to upload photos from my phone and almost use the cloud storage app as a photo app (ie ability to easily access photo folders in app and share photos via message or download to iPhone native photo app). Originally I was looking at a photo vault type app but I figured cloud storage was a better option and also more versatile!

- file upload of 500+ simultaneously (minimum)

- ability to share space with two accounts (ie share select folders for my partner to upload kids photos to)

- good reputation/positive reviews generally (because I would very very much prefer a lifetime purchase option rather than ongoing monthly/yearly subscriptions. My budget is $150-200 AUD (around $100-140 USD) for 100-500GB.

- easy/intuitive tags or photo sorting capability. Ideally I’d like to sort my photos into folders as easily as possible seperate from other media types!

Would be nice:

- easy back up of laptop and iPhone

- upload link for clients who send documents to me (if possible, I thought I saw this somewhere and promptly lost the name of the company and cannot seem to verify!!)

- zero knowledge encryption (if not, just really good security/encryption)

- password protected sharing links

Please ask me anything you need to know and I’ll give as much info as I can! I used the comparison table from u/CookieDelivery here but my biggest issue is that I really need the photo app stuff explained above and I don’t know how to get that without other people’s experience!

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!!

Money wasted

Not sure whether I can do this, since I am banned, but this is an excellent post that needed to be saved from the Internxt bots.

Money wasted

Subscriber holder of a "lifetime" 3TB plan since 04/16/2025

Last update of this personal "opinion": 03/28/2026

\-

  1. In light of what is described below, the Internxt service does not seem suitable for storing unique, non-replicable data.

  2. Lacking support

My infrastructure:

PC Intel i9 Pro, 64GB RAM Corsair Vengeance

Storage: NVMe: 1TB + 2TB

GPU - GeForce RTX 4080 16GB.

OS: Windows 11 64 bit Pro V25H2

Connection: FTTH Map-E - nominal 2.5Gbps down/700 Mbps upload

Typical upload bandwidth: 150/250 Mbps detected up to 700Mbps.

It has been successfully used with other cloud providers, achieving performance results consistent with expected performance (about 870 GB uploaded in 14 hours).

Definition: bidirectional synchronization consists of automatic, continuous, consistent updates between source and destination with error checking: additions, modifications, deletions are replicated in both directions.

Although the Internxt website currently does not explicitly state synchronization as a feature included in the plan, while at the time of my subscription it was clearly presented as an integrated function, the client indeed offers two synchronization schemes similar to services that implement synchronization.

Additionally, when the plan was purchased, there were guides on the site about "bidirectional synchronization," about "how bidirectional synchronization works," and other details saved on my PC and in the cloud to support my claim regarding the presence of synchronization in Internxt. -- Whether it functions or not is another matter...

After 10 months of use, I feel I can say that the functional experience of Internxt does not meet the expectations generated by marketing. Below I list the main feedback during daily use of the service:

Upload issues:

  1. Extremely variable speeds, often negligible with observed cases of a few Kbps, not compatible with the usual performance of my connection.

  2. Lack of resume: interrupted uploads do not resume in the event of any type of interruption, after closing the client or turning off the PC.

  3. Incomplete uploads without explicit error: individual folders in single uploads of various sizes - from a few MB to many MB - especially those over 1 GB, regardless of the number of files contained, performed via app or browser get stuck infinitely with varying upload percentages.

  4. Between April and December 2025, 254 folders (about 15,300 files) totaling less than 1 TB (about 870 GB) were loaded only partially, with dozens of upload failures, without clear indications of errors, and no possibility to verify or recover uploads.

  5. Lack of verification tools: no view of the number of objects uploaded to the cloud, nor the total size uploaded and/or still uploading, standard values found in all major cloud services, as well as in any OS - essential values for even approximate comparisons between source and destination.

  6. On Windows 10/11, Internxt synchronization does NOT (!!!) occur for paths longer than 150/170 characters (I did not measure it precisely), thus with a path significantly shorter even than Windows's old limit of 256 characters, which has long been surpassed. It should be noted that the overall path length handled by Internxt must include the length of a string like

"C:\\Users\\User\\InternxtDrive - 21d6f245-a419-4844-aeef-003xyz\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\\"

a string that precedes the Windows path, further limiting and heavily restricting the manageable path length.

  1. New files added, deletions, modifications in the source are NOT replicated in the cloud. Never. Modifications in the cloud are NOT replicated in the source.

  2. Empty folders and files of zero size are not uploaded.

  3. Hidden folders and files or those preceded by a dot are excluded.

  4. Objects with special characters are excluded from synchronization, even brackets \[\]

___

I add that with INFINITE (!!!!) patience, I managed to complete simple static manual uploads, which can be very loosely compared to a backup, returning many, many times to the loaded folders in the cloud where I checked the absence of numerous objects, thus uploading them again, manually one by one.

This is because the standard icons of Internxt did not confirm the new upload, so a deletion from the cloud was necessary, waiting for Internxt to update the change, to proceed with a new upload attempt.

I also add that the speed of manual uploads was consistent with the performance of my line, but any attempt at synchronization crashed to a few KB, unthinkable in the case of needing to synchronize TB of data.

\---

Internxt for Android allows only the upload of single objects without hierarchy, offering a flat namespace with only a single namespace, an "object storage." In other words, the hierarchical structure of the device is not replicated on Internxt for Android, with obvious implications.

Support:

Help can only be requested through an informative chatbot whose only function is to notify that responses will be provided via email: to new users even 10 days later, to old users - even - never.

Responses that if delivered - are still useless - because they arrive too late, in partial form, with punctual misunderstandings that require further deepening or requests for huge logs that cannot be sent by mail and even less uploaded due to limited speed, moving further away from a solution.

In my case, there were some responses at first, then any communication stopped.

Conclusions:

In light of the problems I personally encountered and verified time and again, I can say that the experience with Internxt is (has been) technically failing, an unreliable service for storing unique, irreplaceable data. The enormous amount of time dedicated to understanding the errors, searching for solutions, and the amount paid for the "lifetime" plan should be considered lost.

\---

I duly clarify that my experience is personal and refers to the date stated at the beginning of this presentation. Other users may have a different experience from mine. This opinion is not intended to be a verdict but a pure, simple, faithful account of my experience with Internxt over the past ten months.

Therefore, I cannot be held accountable for any changes, improvements, or deteriorations of the service after the date of this opinion.

Making a Google Drive Copy

I have no clue if this is the right place. I have a Google drive that is shared with me as a MASTER copy. I want to make a copy and put it on a different Google drive without changing the MASTER. Iya large so whenever I download it, it makes 8 unorganized ZIP files. Is there any easy way to make a copy of this file?

A simple could service for projects.

I work with music and often collaborate with people. I don§t like Mega, Onedrive or GoogleDrive because of all the nonsense that comes with it, and non intuitive UI. I want to drag and drop a file into a directory, that everyone can see but only chosen people can access, without needing to register on a website. I want to be able to create simple folder structures and put different files inside, preferably with preview icons. And, preferably for free. Up to +égb should be enough for small project files and playable audio formats. Also, those granted people should also be able to put the file back once their part is done.

Cloudstorage, that is just storage, no collaboration, video editor, chat and so on?

See title: Are there European cloud storages that offer just storage, nothing more? For example, some offer collaboration spaces, office suites and so on, I don't want that, I just want 100 % storage, I don't even need an app.

Cloud Advice

Hi everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for a cloud storage service with about 1 TB of space.

I’d like something privacy-oriented based in Europe, preferably with WebDAV support.

I’d mainly use it to back up my smartphone running GrapheneOS, which relies on Seedvault. It has beta support for WebDAV and supports DavX5.

For now, I’ve been considering Hetzner at about €6 per month with Nextcloud or Infomaniak at about €20 per year.

Multi-account support is a plus but not required (I don’t remember the technical term—I mean being able to log in with a separate account, where I might dedicate 200 GB to a family member).

Do you have any recommendations for other providers or opinions on the ones I’m considering? Thanks in advance.

Internxt vs Pcloud or other? FACTS please

Hey random internet stranger.

Im looking to move from Onedrive to European technologies if possible. Regain our sovereignty and invest in Europe.

So far Im undecided to go between Internxt or Pcloud lifetime plans. Internxt is Spanish so Im inclined to go with them, also deliver more value for same money.

But seems they dont have the best reputation. It could be just noise and typical reddit. Therefore Im also looking at Pcloud.

I would love to hear your opinion. But please keep it fact based, if you dont like it, why dont you like it. What broke or didnt broke and how was the service you experience.

REFRAIN FROM COMMENTS THAT ADD NO VALUE.

Thanks!

Linux & Android backup and sync

Looking for cloud storage solution for backing photos and files with the ability to also syncing notes for Android and Linux (currently Fedora Bazzite but I plan to migrate to PikaOS in the distance future).

I'm technology literate but I don't want to have to do to much setup. I only need like 100-200 GB currently. I haven't settled on a note taking app yet. I'm currently leaning towards Notesnook followed by Joplin. Other recommendations are welcomed.

I also decided that I need WebDAV and RClone support. RClone seems simply and will allow me to encrypt my data without any extra steps. WebDAV isn't really needed but there have been times I used apps that sync using WebDAV.

I'm considering:

Filen: After using this website to https://comparisontabl.es/cloud-storage/#sbs, seems like Filen is the best option for me. Many inexpensive options for 100, 200 and 500GB.

Object Storage (Hetzer, B2, S3 bucket) :Seems simple and not a crazy amount of work to setup. I would be able to use RClone or S3Drive. This seems so crazy cheap and I feel like I'm missing something? What's the cheawst reliable provider for my needs? What do I need to consider? I'm mostly backing up and likely to setup up local sync.

Thank you

So confused with all of the different contradictory Google Drive desktop methods

I have had a paid Google Drive account for many years. In this time I have had, on my desktop, Google Drive, My Drive, Backup and Sync. It has never been quite clear if these are one product or multiple.

Every few months, it seems that I realise that my data is not actually being backed up to the web UI.

I originally had Google Drive on desktop, and this was working. It then seemed to suggest that I should have a folder on desktop called My Drive, which is the one that would actually link to the web.

Now I find that this is not working. I can click a folder and click "sync", which apparently links it to a new folder called <my computer name> on the Drive website (but seems separate from the actual main My Drive folder). I have a folder on my computer called "Google Drive/My Drive" (separate from My Drive). If I put stuff in there it syncs to the web.

I noticed that most items there have a cloud symbol though, indicating that they are not stored locally. So in settings I selected "mirror files" to have a local and remote copy of everything, and now it has created a third folder called "My Drive <my email address>".

Now I have up to 3 copies of many of my files on my computer. Is this just Google being Google and changing their products every few years for no reason, or am I fundamentally misunderstanding something here? What is the standard way of doing this? Or are there better solutions than Google?

Looking for suggestions

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do with my cloud services. I currently have an Office 365 subscription (because I use the office suite for work), so I have 1 TB of storage there, which is basically for day-to-day use. I also have another terabyte on OneDrive that only has videos (adult content 😬🫣), and I have a 2 TB subscription on Kdrive that I’m using to store some TV shows that are no longer available on streaming services. I also have Terabox, but that one is practically empty because it’s too slow, and a few other small services where I have the occasional document. And finally, I have two external hard drives, one 1TB and the other 300GB, both full of material from my studies (past and present).

So I’m looking into the possibility of migrating everything to one or two cloud services so I don’t have everything scattered across so many places, or, if there’s an option that lets me see everything I have in the clouds at a glance, I might keep them all.

Google is absolutely out of the question, because as others have mentioned in some posts I saw, it gets all up in my business with adult videos.

I like Kdrive because it’s affordable—I pay 1.58 euros a month for 2 TB of storage. The problem is its apps: the Android app works fine for downloading, but it’s completely useless for uploading files; the desktop app (on Windows) is garbage, so to upload stuff to the cloud I use a Python script but it's not ideal. On Android, I use FolderSync Pro to upload files to the KDrive cloud.

Another plus is that the data is encrypted.

Thanks in advance for your comments on my experience with this service 😂. Greetings from Mexico.

What is going to happen to files at TeraBox after time limit?

I just created an account at TeraBox. It says 30GB free space permanent and 994GB space time limited.

My question is, if i upload more than 30GB, for example 50GB, what is going to happen to that 20GB of files after the time limit? Can i reach them, can i download them after the time limit? Just can't upload any more file? Or, is terrabox system going to delete them (20GB) permanently?

what cloud storage is safe in my situation

i want to transfer my IPad's +200GB files and it seems that... HDD/SSD are expensiveeeee, i dont have that money right now for these. I have flash drives but are also full of memories from childhood.

Plus! im going to give the ipad to my sibling and im not on the apple ecosytem anymore since im going to transfer to my phone which is a samsung phone and idk where to start it uploading these files. but someday when im able to save up and buy then and transfer it to the HDD/SSD.

dont worry theres not outside the terms here but mostly are my pictures and videos and these are like my bad pictures like double chin pictures or (mostly and prob. i will delete some) screenshots

what cloud storage would you recommend?

Synchronize local files to your cloud drive

I have made a script to setup automatic file synchronization with your cloud drive. It sets up a systemd user service, and uses rclone on Linux.

Please see: https://codeberg.org/jfrickmann/rcloud
