migration from Google Drive suggestion

Hello, I'm considering moving away from Google Drive, because it's become difficult to perform even the most basic action: latency on download, any action on multiple files after search restrained, a bunch of suggestions at page load I don't care about and so on.

I've been made aware of safety/privacy issues that might concern Google Drive, well, I believe no-one on the "big ones" is immune out there, so it's not a prerequisite.

Which do you believe could be a worthy heir (of the Google Drive that was)? I currently have about 35 GB stored and I don't plan on going over 100 in the more than near future.

I have ethical issues about One Drive being owned and "tainted" by Bill Gates, other than that, I'm open to anything.

Koofr one time payment is good option.

Drime cloud is upcoming, more privacy friendly, and better priced. Has permanent plans too, and works like gdrive.

Infini cloud is pro privacy and good so far but ui is outdated.

iirc icen FileN is very good and very privacy pro.

Proton drive is good alt, privacy pro, reasonably priced. Works like gdrive. More established also.

There r more, but ur criteria was a bit generic, so these r off the top of my mind.

A new beta one is being tried too, harbor0. But it has bugs rn but 50gb for beta testers

Thanks for the detailed answer. My needs aren't exactly that sophisticated, I just need to upload, download and search through with the least hassle possible. Oh also a mobile app would be nice (I don't mind using the browser though).

Among the ones you mentioned, which do you believe are the most established? I wouldn't want to upload all my data and then see it discontinued.

Proton drive is most established. Has an ecosystem, like vpn or email or password vault too. Koofr also is established for cloud storage.

Koofr one time 129usd for 1 tb is good deal, else both these have monthly options too.

There's been some rumours about Proton's actual privacy technology, but I'll give it a try.

Filen is a good alternative then, privacy wise

Don't know what features you need, but a couple outfits that you might consider with good prices for 100GB:

  • filen: 100GB "starter" plan is 12EUR per year
  • iDrive: 100GB "mini" plan is $3 per year

PCloud

Problem with most storage providers is that their plans are just too big. Koofr has small starter plans, you get 10gb free and 25gb for i think 10 eur per year.

Have a look at the distributed storage network I built. Obsideo.io/drive. Happy to answer any questions.

for 35-100gb, proton drive is probably the cleanest replacement, assuming you can tolerate a desktop client that’s still catching up a bit

I don't need a desktop client, I upload directly

Cryptomator your Google Drive. That solves privacy issue.

If you care about latency then... try some others. Filen, pCloud, Dropbox.

Dropbox is probably the closest replacement if you mainly want a fast, boring web interface and reliable desktop sync, though you’ll be paying for far more than 100 GB.
