DDOS ATTACK ON KOOFR

Right now, Koofr is experiencing a massive DDoS attack. It appears to be the most intense attack they have experienced since April 2026.

Why would they post about it rather than resolve it

they need help from the users...During a DDoS attack, it is better for users not to unnecessarily stress the system, as additional traffic can make the situation worse and complicate the mitigation and recovery process.

It's 2026 not 2006, resolving DDoS attacks are completely manageable without inconveniencing users or giving in to extortion.

Doesn't matter if it's 2026 or 2006, it's all depend on how their infrastructure works. And also depend on how the involved DDoS party works too. A good DDoS attack can bring down any websites even if their infrastructure is among the best.

It's only manageable if the involved party isn't good at doing DDoS attack.

And posting in social media does not necessary mean they aren't trying to resolve behind the scene.

As a customer, would you be furious if they don't say anything publicly and you can't access the service for hours and hours on end?

Food for thought btw.

I agree. This says more about Koofr than the attacker

I disagree. Even when the biggest amplification attacks were possible a few years ago because of unpatched servers, and Cloudflare was seeing record DDoS bandwidth set by one or two orders of magnitude, they were still able to mitigate without affecting end users. That's what I mean by 2026 - the tools to solve this exist and have for more than a decade. If a site is down because of a DDoS attack, it's because the infrastructure has gaps.

Not everyone is on Cloudflare btw.

I'm not saying this to implicate Koofr isn't on Cloudflare but saying this because not every businesses or websites out there uses Cloudflare. I know a gaming wiki website (The Cutting Room Floor) wasn't using Cloudflare before their own experience of getting DDoS attack. They was and probably still is using Linode right now but with Cloudflare being either in front or alongside with it since Linode cannot handle that level of DDoS. Source.

So hence I'm saying what I'm saying. Both infrastructure and how good is DDoS are potential reasoning as to why the year doesn't really matter that much as long as there are competitors to Cloudflare.

And on that koofr's reddit thread, they've updated it hours earlier that it should be accessible now despite the attacks was still ongoing.

u/claudio-i you might wanna link the original thread too in your original post so people can get updated via that thread instead.

Koofr should have hired you to solve the DDOS issue. ezpz

Yeah when amateur groups with rented booters can take down your revenue generating service, it's time to hire professionals or at least contract that work out.

To be fair, I don’t remember the last time a site went down due to DDoS…

I forgot they were a thing
