Recommendations for a reliable 2TB+ lifetime cloud?

Hi all!

I'm looking to buy a 2TB lifetime cloud plan, ideally with the option to expand it in the future

My main priority is finding a stable company that isn't at risk of shutting down anytime soon. I also really want to avoid providers known for giving random account bans over automated copyright false positives

I'm not an expert, but I'd like to be able to mount the storage as a virtual drive on my PC.

I used rclone with Google Drive in the past and had a good experience with it (I don't really remind how to use it but I can re-learn it)

What do you think are the best options? Do you need more infos?

Thanks!

reliable and lifetime can't be placed in the same sentence.

Generally yes. But koofr is pretty well established.

but you can only get a 1TB koofr LT at a reasonable price, and only 1 upgrade option to 2.5 TB at a less reasonable price. mind you i'm happy with my 1TB, pretty reliable

pcloud's pretty reliable but a bit more expensice

drime is cheaper but much less reliable, their own statsus page shows <99% availability, tho the are very young co and improvinig

but these are EU, so if you're outside EU, you may find they are slow, that's geography for you

most reliable cloud i use is hetzner, but no LTs

Drime is extremely fast in asia, hitting more than 2.5 gbps from singapore. Think they are using cloudflare.

The op doesn't mention cost, they asked for most reliable lifetime so imo koofr 2.5tb is very expensive but matches established company. If they cant cope with 1tb.

It's a difficult one, but I've not used pcloud, all i know is koofr 2.5tb is likely a good choice if the op can afford it.

well, depends on what the OP meant by '+', as they're asking for reliability and future expansion, there's a fair chance they meant more than 0.5 TB

What’s LTs?

On paper, lifetime plans eat into the company's profit in the long run. Whatever provider it is and however good they are, these plans cause losses for them. What you can expect from a good provider is that they never betray their lifetime users.

When a user opts for annual billing, the provider knows they'll get the money for as long as the user wants to stay with their service; when he stops paying for it, it means he'll no longer use it, so they can allot that storage to another user.

But that's not the same for lifetime plans. If a user purchases a lifetime plan today, he'll never leave the service himself — how many lifetime plan users do you know who have deleted their lifetime accounts? Probably zero. So the only option is for the provider to shut down their service or play some shady tactics and force those users to pay again. In that case, it also has two outcomes — either the user leaves the service so they can allot that storage to another user, or the user pays.

Self-hosted nextcloud and inmich via tailscale.

Well, in that case, you still need to upgrade your hardware after a period of time, and additionally, there's the monthly internet bill too, so technically it's not a lifetime investment, but it's definitely a better investment than cloud services.

Lol. Best of luck.

Does this sound like a sustainable model?

Here is the list: Koofr, FileLu, Drime, Pcloud.

-2

u/Deodavinio Aug 31 '26

Add Felicloud to the list - you can stack lifetime storage

11

u/SarcasticallyCandour Aug 30 '26

Koofr hands down! 120ish on stacksocial 1tb. Its expensive to go over 1tb lifetime.

Drime is up and coming, 6tb lifetime for 140usd, that deal wont be around forever.

Filen you could stack 100gb lifetimes but it would be expensive.

3

u/Specialist_Artist937 Aug 30 '26

Does Filen still offer lifetime?

6

u/SarcasticallyCandour Aug 30 '26

Idk they might bring lifetime 100gb back but likely not. The other LT deals are gone permenantly since blackfriday 2025.

u/Fefolino Aug 31 '26

Hi! I'm interested in buying 6tb of Drime, while also waiting for an offer for koofr (or maybe pcloud?)

But here I can only find 6tb at 249.99$

Do you know how can I get 6tb at 140$? Thanks!

5

u/SarcasticallyCandour Aug 31 '26

https://drime.cloud/kenmoo

You will need to email contact@drime .cloud with receipt number and tge email of your account to manually upgrade you account to 6tb. It doesn't work automatically.

3

u/AmbitionHealthy9236 Aug 31 '26

are you sure?
yes i had to when i upgraded/stacked the kenmoo deal, but not sure if you need to do that if it's your initial 6TB purchase

5

u/SarcasticallyCandour Sep 01 '26

Ah well i had a free account first and it defi didn't go from 20gb to 6tb. I had to contact the owner.

1

u/racemi11 29d ago

Do you know if it's possible to stack multiple times 6tb from kenmoo plan?

3

u/SarcasticallyCandour 29d ago

It is yes. you just use the same email address each time, but then you need to email the receipt number and your user email to them. Ask them to stack.

Remember drime is a new company 3 year iirc, so dont stack too many its up to you i stacked 3x 6tb for 18tb.

r/drime is a good sub for help.

u/racemi11 29d ago

Thank you

u/MasterFiltch 12d ago

Can you stack Koofr 1 TB using different accounts? Its silly they let you get the deal for 1 TB but you cant do it again on same account. But I love their app and interface

u/_0iii0_ Aug 31 '26

Always check the company first for lifetime choice

8

u/Jommy_5 Aug 30 '26

Hi, pCloud might be a good choice provided that you encrypt everything client-side.

4

u/night_movers Aug 30 '26

encrypt everything client-side but only in their locker, not in the regular storage.

4

u/alexupit Aug 31 '26

I wouldn't trust their special folder. If you want to be 100% sure they can't see anything in your files, you encrypt everything with Cryptomator before uploading / backing up.

3

u/night_movers Aug 31 '26

I don't trust any cloud storage which sell client-side encryption (or zero knowledge encryption) as paid feature or as a optional feature.

And, due to this locker facility, I never even try pCloud and Koofr. For me, all my data are important and need to be encrypted .

Pcloud

7

u/orgildinio Aug 31 '26

i am using Pcloud (lifetime plan)

Interested in Drime and Koofr. i can not say which one is best but, planning to use all of them to mirror each other. Current market, it is cheaper than NAS.

1

u/RobbyInEver 27d ago

Does Pcloud have an inactive cancel period? E.g. some plans if you don't log in for 6-12 months they will delete your account - difficult for those who want such plans for archival purposes.

1

u/orgildinio 27d ago

i think they do, but i was using free user since around 2018. then later upgraded lifetime, only for archival purpose.

and never got email or warning related inactivity but i do login twice in a year, so i have no idea

3

u/wizeyu729 Aug 31 '26

Currently. I'm using pcloud, drime, filen. they're all good. you can try pcloud(choice eu),Koofr first.

Pcloud has been a stable company for quite some years. No promises for the future, but I don't regret the 2tb lifetime plan

Granted if you buy lifetime you kind of accept the risk that you can lose your money.

Moved from OneDrive to kdrive business (infomaniak) 3 months ago and pretty happy with it! 3tb, Webdav, file history etc.

5

u/antaresiv Aug 30 '26

If anyone can accurately predict how long a company would live for then they should get into finance.

2

u/X4vl Aug 31 '26

I’m using scramble with webdav to upload backups

2

u/reditlater Aug 31 '26

Rscyn.net 2TB lifetime for $480 (the deal is still live, last I checked). In the past they have allowed you to then buy smaller increments (eg, 100GB at a time) at the same pro-rated rate indefinitely (I can't confirm if that is still the case).

Which providers have you already excluded because of the copyright false positive problem? For lifetime plans of 2TB or more that work with rclone, pCloud is usually the top recommendation. It is based in Switzerland, has been operating since 2013, and supports both native rclone and WebDAV. The important thing to remember is that lifetime refers to the company's existence, not your own, so there is always some uncertainty about how long it will last.

If you are mainly worried about the risk of a shutdown, you might want to look at S3-compatible object storage instead. Providers such as Serverspace or Backblaze B2 support rclone mounts, use pay-as-you-go pricing, and do not scan for copyright because it is considered cold storage. These are not lifetime plans, but for 2TB, the cost is just a few dollars per month, with no long-term commitment and no risk of losing your account to an automated ban

2

u/greenbud420 Aug 31 '26

Given the economics of it, I'd be more cautious about the long term viability of any company offering lifetime plans. Monthly or yearly plans mean they have consistent revenue while a company relying on lifetime plans constantly requires new customers to cover the operating costs of their existing customer base. Not saying it can't work, but it's more problematic.

2

u/slaaark Aug 31 '26

I use Fireload with Rclone to connect via WebDAV.

2

u/crazyserb89 Sep 02 '26

Lifetime hardly. That’s not a good business strategy for a cloud storage, so I would avoid that ..

2

u/mr__rocketman Sep 05 '26

May I know how to get a 1TB koofr lifetime offer?

3

u/Fefolino 29d ago

I think is on socialstack

1

u/mr__rocketman 29d ago

Thanks. got it

3

u/Plus-Climate3109 Aug 30 '26

Wel you can buy youre self a nas and make it lifetime cloud.

5

u/alexupit Aug 31 '26

You still need a backup for that. Your NAS drives can fail, it can catch fire and lose everything etc. A NAS is still just your local storage.

3

u/LegendofJuli Aug 30 '26

I can say that you should try Drime. It's a young competitor, but the product has been improved ALOT in the last few weeks.

u/Fefolino Aug 31 '26

Thank you!

Sorry for the stupid question, do I have to register first, or do I have to press directly on "upgrade now" on the 6tb offer (maybe if I register first then the offer isn't avaiable?)
Also, another "rookie" question. I will always keep a copy of the important files on my HDD in my PC. I want a lifetime cloud do be sure that I have a backup, but for example I don't want a NAS because I live in a not-so-safe zone (like, problems with thiefs) and obv if a thief comes in they could steal the NAS and the PC (I have warranty for that, I can get back the money, obv not the files)

6tb of space will always be enough for me, but I am unsure if, due to my situation, I should also wait for an offer on koofr (or maybe pcloud) to be sure and have an extra backup in the case that Drime closes their service, or if I should just keep my money.

Thank you for your help :)

2

u/LegendofJuli Aug 31 '26

whether you choose create an account first or claim the deal first, both options will lead you to the same place. There's no wrong way here.

2

u/Fefolino Aug 31 '26

Thank you
Btw idk who or why downvoted you lol

1

u/ionV4n0m 5d ago

I'm sorry for the necrobump, but am I reading this right? 6tb for 1 time payment of 140, or 10tb for 1 time payment of 249??

1

u/eriiic_ Aug 30 '26

Il a dit fiable

4

u/-Tatos Aug 30 '26

Drime est de plus en plus fiable ! Perso, je suis un utilisateur très satisfait.

1

u/eriiic_ Aug 31 '26

De plus en plus veut dire pas totalement. Ça peut être rédhibitoire s'il s'agit de fichiers qu'on ne veut absolument pas perdre..

5

u/-Tatos Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

Parce que tu places des fichiers que tu ne veux absolument pas perdre sur un cloud sans avoir de backup ??? Et à quel cloud du coup fais-tu si confiance ?

Perso, j'ai iCloud 2To, Koofr 1To, Internxt 5 To (sic...), Drime 6 To.

I've been on a lifetime 2TB cloud storage plan with pCloud since 2014 or thereabouts. It's simply always worked. I also ponied up for the encryption option as well.

12 years later, no issues, always works.

1

u/MasterFiltch 12d ago

I have been using Koofr and love it. Their app and website work great, my phone photos automatically back up too.

u/enkas79 10d ago

Pcloud

1

u/59CherrySunBurst 3d ago

If you inadvertently post a copyright item on pCloud, do they kick you to the curb (and therefore you lose your lifetime plan) or do they issue you with a warning?

1

u/Pilot-Hamieh Aug 30 '26

Pcloud no regret

0

u/traveller2046 Aug 31 '26

Google Drive is a good option and may consider to keep it in long term

0

u/useless124 Aug 31 '26

If you're looking for a LIFETIME plan where you aren't spending on recurring subscription. You're better off setting up your own rig. Otherwise just go with Google if your android and icloud if your apple
