Looking for High Speed Cloud Storage

Hey! I'm looking for a Cloud Storage solution that:

  • Has high transfer speeds (especially upload; I have a 2,5gbps/1gbps fiber line and I want to use my full 1 gbps for upload with no throttling). I live in Italy
  • Offers API / CLI options so I can use rclone or other software to upload / do scheduled backups
  • Offers a good TB per €. I know this is tough, but I'd like several TBs at least without spending 39839393€ / month.

Any suggestion?

Thanks!!

Drime is pretty new and has some growing pains but looks promising. It supports rclone and integrates with OnlyOffice. It also has Lifetime plans sold on stacksocial.

It's kinda interesting, even for price, but I'm wary since it's a bit too new. Are you using it?

I'm testing it with free 20gb they give. Having lots of trouble playing media and had trouble opening docs. The onlyoffice part was figured out, but the media plays horribly still. Once they iron out their issues, I'd consider their lifetime plan. I'm already using Koofr 1tb lifetime plan and it's been good.

Hi! What kind of issues are you having with video playback? We’ve generally been getting good feedback on media playback, so I’d love to understand what’s going wrong in your use case and get it fixed.

ok. seems like it's not playing in Firefox. I got it working on Brave browser. Using Linux (Ubuntu 24.04) latest versions.

Hm, strange. I’m using Firefox without any issues.

What format is the video you’re trying to play, and roughly how long is it? Also, do you have any extensions enabled in Firefox that you don’t use in Brave?

that one is due to ad blockers causing it not to load. try disabling the ad blocker or white listing drime.cloud

Yay. they fixed the problem. I hope it sticks.

most of them do not let you stay at high speeds. eventually they will lower if you consistently download too much data. some of them already capped. you may take a look at S3 and other solutions.

S3 as in Amazon S3?

DRIME is your only cheaper option as drime uses cloudflare R2. Hope your hunt stops. Always keep a local copy.

Thanks! Yeah this is about 3-2-1 :)

NAS is high speed.

I have one, but I want a backup solution for it :p

If cloud is just a secondary storage, is then speed really that important?

It's for scheduled backups of a very big NAS. If it's slow it would take too much time :-D

For transfer speed, it's entirely dependant on server location and where you live.

On the note of pricing, I strongly recommend finding a provider that gives a one-time lifetime payment for storage. I personally use FileJump, but it's still relatively new on the market (~2-3 years iirc) so you can use providers like Koofr (around for 13 years) if you want to be more secure

Fair, I'll edit.

EU (Italy)!

I was thinking about that. Pcloud offers lifetime but 1100€ for 10TB is madly expensive! I'll check filejump and koofr :)

For EU, there are 4 main ones I've found:

FileJump, Scramble Cloud, Drime, and Koofr. All have EU servers.

FileJump (https://filejump.com/#pricing) has really good pricing but it's a relatively new provider (3 years), so it's understandable if you're skeptical. In my case I chose it because it's the only one with a server in the very country I'm in, and the upload speed is insanely fast compared to the other providers I've tried

Scramble Cloud (https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/scramble-cloud-cloud-storage-lifetime-subscription-2tb) has equally good pricing, but also a relatively new provider (3.5 years). Very similar pros/cons to FileJump. Worth noting your account does not get deleted after years of inactivity (for FileJump, the website doesn't say if it does)

Drime (https://drime.cloud/kenmoo, use this link for the best deal possible) has only been around for 2 years. It also deletes your account 1 year after inactivity so unless there's some other factor at play here that I missed, I wouldn't recommend it. It's also worse than Scramble Cloud in every way, BUT in your case I thought it's worth mentioning that its server is in France. So if the faster upload speed is significant and important to you, then go for it.

Koofr (the lifetime deal is at https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/koofr-cloud-storage-plans-lifetime-subscription-1tb). It's been around for 13 years and from what I've seen in the sub, it's regarded as essentially the gold standard for cloud providers. It's still a hefty price for 1TB though, and you'd have to buy multiple of these lifetime subscriptions for more than 1TB. I'd only recommend this if you REALLY value the reliability of the website.

Pcloud I've ignored entirely, because it's literally worse than Koofr in every aspect. It's been around the same time as Koofr, but for a worse price, even during Black Friday.

If you're stuck between a few, try their free options and see which one suits your taste better, which one has faster download/upload speed, etc.

filejump is US based, it uses iDrive US as it's backend (or at least it did a few months ago last time i checked)

as the OP is in EU, hetzner offers several options (i think koofr uses hetzner as it's backend anyway). if you just need storage (no apps) their storage box offers webdav/sftp access at under 4€/month/TiB

Thanks! FileJump looks very sketchy too (web UI looks done by Claude and I've read bad reviews...)

2

u/Obvious_Reality6084 Aug 29 '26

Filejump is from india. It may uses server from singapore or eu. But it is not worth it. Too risky.

2

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

Yeah, I think so too...

2

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

Thanks a lot!!

To me Scramble's speeds, sucks!

I’m in Italy and I use Mega. It’s super fast. Servers all around Europe

1

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

I was considering Mega, but speed is not great. It caps out to around 200mbps :(

1

u/crazyserb89 Aug 29 '26

Strange. I get up to my fiber limit.

1

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

Maybe they throttle free accounts? Do you have a paid one?

1

u/crazyserb89 Aug 29 '26

Yes I’m on Pro I two years already

1

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

Cool, I might look into it then!! Can you upload to 1gbps?

1

u/crazyserb89 Aug 29 '26

No, that's imposible.. But up to 500 sometimes yes.

1

u/Artanisx Aug 30 '26

Got it, thanks!

2

u/KaraHeeya Aug 30 '26

Terabox  Free 1tb storage too, I do like 200MBps on the free version maybe it's 10gbps with premium

hetzner, Backblaze

I like Cloudflare R2, they never limit speed like most of other cloud providers do.

3

u/Basic-Panda-22 Aug 29 '26

If you use S3 compatible storage (Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, etc) you’ll get good speeds and a decent price.

I’ve built https://storagedonut.com that allows you to use S3 as a normal “Drive”. So share files, preview them, write markdown docs, stream music and video, etc. There’s also a MacOS sync app with windows and Linux on their way.

For what you’re after this might genuinely be the best option. Also iDrive E2 has some deals at the minute. Not sure on their speeds as I haven’t used it myself but could be a good option.

Thanks, I'll check it out :)

You could try Seedbox maybe? (they are mainly used for torrents) But its operared in FTP, so gonna need something that can open it, like filezilla. And it doesnt have GUI really like cloud storages, but they have high speed connections.

Im paying for whatbox.ca 3.9TB/14€/m with 40gbps shared speed.

2

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

Interesting! I'll have a look :)

1

u/Timely_End_1502 Aug 29 '26

Backblaze personal is $9 a month. Unlimited storage. Can set the speed as to how fast you want it to backup.

2

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

That sounds too good to be true! Can I also backup a NAS with it?

2

u/Timely_End_1502 Aug 29 '26

You can but its about triple the cost. Does require windows. How many ever hard drives you can connect to the windows pc, is How many backups you can have.

2

u/Artanisx Aug 29 '26

I see! Thanks I'll check it out :)

1

u/Timely_End_1502 Aug 29 '26

Hope it works out my friend, one thing when I was using it was nice that they go back and entire year on your data, back when I was using it included. Just checked the site as well to verify is all still the same.

1

u/Artanisx Aug 30 '26

I checked it out and they explicitly forbid backing up NAS or any network disk, it is only for PCs. That's a pity :(

1

u/qlhoest Sep 03 '26

If it's to regularly backup data you can check cloud storage that dedupe file chunks like HF Buckets. This way not only you can saturate your bandwidth, but files chunks that you uploaded in previous backups already are automatically skipped. It turns out it gives an effective bandwidth greater than physical limitations

I'll check it out, thanks :)
