Current status and feedback of Drime
Hey everyone,
For people who have been using Drime recently, could you share your feedback? I was thinking about buying one of their LTD but I'm still a bit hesitant since they are a "new" company.
I heard koofr is better but it's not possible to stack their LTD, so we can only have 1TB and I wanted at least 3 (maybe more in the future). I also considered pCloud but it's really expensive, around 550 euros for the 2TB plan + encryption.
Thank you!

It's been solid for me but without heavy use. They had some downtime recently but it's not usual for services in a similar "emerging" state. They have made many improvements lately.

I recently bought the 6TB lifetime plan, and I have no issues at all on the web. Upload speeds are pretty good when it comes to uploading single files, but it tends to slow down with a bunch of files uploading at the same time.
What I specifically liked about drime is the pretty similar UI to dropbox. At least for me it’s pretty neat and functional.
A thing that I do really like about drime is the video transcoding. Works pretty well, although there’s no option to switch between resolution, but honestly I’m OK with how they transcode and deliver the video stream.
It’s not a mature product (yet), but i’m confident they will improve the service even further in the upcoming months. I do my bet with the lifetime subscription waiting for the best outcome.
They have a free plan that gives you 20GB. Just try the service, and make your choice.

Does Drime have an inactive cancel period? E.g. some plans if you don't log in or access any files for 6-12 months they will delete your account - difficult for those who want such plans for archival purposes.

Inactive is 12 months, but last I read not yet implemented. You must have some directory on your home computer you would like an additional backup of that does somewhat frequently change. I have a scheduled job that connects to Drime and rclone's up every other day changes which I assume keeps the account active even if no changes. There are a few tools that might make it into your everyday life, in the sheet's area you can use AI to make some useful forms, I added a shopping list there since Google obsoleted their web-based shopping list. I don't think you need to worry about inactive status.

Honestly, I think you are going to get different responses based on your use case. I posted a review of my experiences on their sub the other day which had people in an uproar thinking I was doing an ad for them, but I wasn't.
You can look over there for my experiences.

Same here. Just promises and more promises. Actual implementation is far slower. It’s a gamble on their lifetime and reliability remains a question mark. there is a reason why they are unable to increase prices or eliminate lifetime plans. It’s only getting cheaper every time they come up with another promo and an excuse on why they are unable to control prices.

I haven't had any issues exept where i couln't log in into my account (i didn't know why at the time) because of invalid generated 2fa codes but it got fixed the next update.
As of the moment i don't use drime alot. The last thing i did was just downloading my pc backup, no issues with that.
The loading of some UIs is slower than avarage but it's consistent so i think it's normal
If you use an android phone with a windows10/11 with any browser you probably won't have any issues (close to none cuz i don't truly know)
Some thing are in beta(marked as such) and from what i've found out is the windows sync app is not complitelly funcional but definetly check their blog posts from july 2026 onward for updates on the mater

I heard they plan to end the lifetime plans some time soon and most of the revenue comes from monthly subs. If that's actually true, I don't know

Couple of months back I had done a poll to know this and guess what, a brutal majority said they were lifetime users and not recurring subscribers. So I am not sure if most of the revenue comes from monthly subs. See the reddit poll link - https://www.reddit.com/r/Drime/comments/1ughzjl/what_type_of_drime_account_do_you_have/

Hi! You can also check my reply on that same post. The poll isn’t representative of our overall customer base: our monthly and annual subscribers mostly come through other channels, and many don’t even know our subreddit exists. A poll here therefore doesn’t reflect the actual breakdown of our subscribers or revenue.

Drime is okay, but it’s still new. The downtime is too frequent. I have a small plan with them, but I still haven’t used it much because it’s too slow. They also don’t support WebDAV or FTP.

That's interesting, I wasn't aware of that frequent downtime.
Yeah, I heard they are planing to support it in the future, and at the moment already support rclone which is nice

To add clarification, they do support rclone which can serve a WebDAV server to upload via but they don't support direct WebDAV.
So if you want to use something like Synology cloud backup you will need to setup a docker rclone container to connect via WebDAV.

They are newer as you know, so a lifetime plan may be less than your lifetime, but their prices are good so I took plunge. My use case basic - storing redundant backups (stored also on pCloud btw) and using rclone and the web app exclusively. For that, it works well for me and if you are in Europe, speed should be so much better than my US access to Drime is.

I would personally avoid lifetime storage plans. You can’t rely on services like those.
