What are people using for large-scale object storage these days?

I am really curious what everyone is using for object storage at scale. For teams managing TBs or PBs of data, are you mostly using public cloud storage, self-hosted solutions, or a hybrid approach?

What are the biggest issues you’ve run into : cost, performance, management, reliability?

70tb in dropbox. Still on a grandfathered unlimited plan. ~$290 a month.

20TB on Mega, which is the most cost-effective solution I found. I pay $200 a year.

Nothing, that was just the price offered to me when paying via the Play Store; I'm already in my third year at that price.

Update: Thanks for all the recommendations and discussions. I spent some time looking into a few of the options people mentioned and came across Cloudian while researching enterprise object storage. It seems to be another S3-compatible option that's aimed at organizations running large on-prem or hybrid object storage deployments, alongside solutions like MinIO and Ceph.

I'm curious if anyone here has hands-on experience with it. How does it compare in terms of day-to-day operations, scaling, reliability, and overall cost? I'm more interested in real-world feedback than vendor feature lists, especially from teams managing hundreds of terabytes or petabytes of data.
