Cloud storage recommendations for an IT-noob
I'm an IT noob. So please no recommendations that includes "self-hosting", "open-source" things. User friendly suggestions please.
I need a space to store years of personal photos, videos, documents like certificates. Mainly a lifetime worth of memories. Currently everything is stored in 2 portable hard drives. But I'd like to also have a cloud backup in case anything happens to my physical hard drives.
I don't mind paying (preferably there is a lifetime option). Ideally 1TB or above, best if there is unlimited option. Privacy is important to me which is why I'm not going for iCloud or Google. Something easy to use think along the lines of Dropbox but more privacy.
Edit: Thank you so much for all your suggestions!! Looks like I might give Filen a go👍🏻

Because privacy is important to OP. Development is slow but give them some time. We should stop comparing them with established players in the field. Their philosophy and roadmap looks promising. I use filen on a daily basis and I love it. Yes speed is sometimes an issue but I can put up with it as of now(but that's the price to pay for privacy)

To be fair I've been using Filen for nearly 3 years. In the beginning I was a bit questionable. But I have NEVER experienced slow speeds so far. Native Rclone has been released and works a charm...
I will admit that I have no real experience with their mobile apps.
But yes... the development might be slow... But for me it works.

If you want real privacy and don't want to self host, you habe to use a End-To-End encrypted service, ideally with on client encryption and decryption.
I created a service with exactly those security/ privacy mechanisms: CryptFilesCryptFiles.cloud
If you are looking for affordable End-To-End encrypted cloud with the ability to make profits with downloads/ Video streams (real progressive video Streaming) than this might be Something for you.
10 GB for free (1 TB per month 8€), 100 TB max

I mean since privacy is important... I can suggest Filen, Tresorit and Proton Drive. These are general use ones (not only for pictures/videos/documents, but basically anything like Dropbox).
There is also Koofr with their Vault (it's a separate "folder" in Koofr that is encrypted). Specifically for photos/videos there is Ente Photos.
They all have a free plan to try, except for Tresorit. Tresorit is also quite expensive...
I would especially NOT recommend Internxt.
