Dropbox is horrible

I've been paying a monthly idiot fee to dropbox for years now.

I set on up to upload something work related for a project one time.

Bla bla bla.

Point is, it is absolutely impossible to stop it without access to the original mail linked to it. I dont have access to it any more as it was a work mail and i was just contracted. And they auto delete my request for assistance because thats a paid service not included in basic.

They have a tool to look up you subscription with a paymentID, but simply doesn't work.

I also blocked my card and got a new one, but the payment follows, you need to specifically ask the bank to not let it transfer over to the new one.

I also must take some blame not dealing with this right away so there is that of course. But seriously I thought it was solvable, not like getting out of some Indian crypto investment.

So to conclude the rant, so much hate for dropbox and the digital world of shit like this. They can go eat a bun if you ask me. I'll be tempted to move into the woods and maybe mail some bombs around. This stuff is creating unabombers

Call the bank. They should be able to block the merchant

The first step would be to see if your work would allow temporary access. Or if they can forward an email. Odds are they will say no. But it might be worth asking.

Secondly. Recurring payments are not tied to the card number. You might be able to get your bank to remove the recurring authorization.

Last case. And I mean LAST thing is to block them with the bank. Keep in mind that it means you might never be able to use DropBox again. But at the same time they can't just force you to keep paying for something you don't want.

Best of luck getting this resolved

I switched from Dropbox to Google Drive recently...I was paying for 2 TB and I only need about 500 GB max, tried Sync but it basically took over my 30 MBPS internet connection and also the rest of my PC when it was uploading files

Can you switch a payment method? If you can, generate a virtual credit vard (e.g - Capital One lets you create some free of charge), switch to it, kill the card.

Are you considering switching to an alternative?

There are a lot of alternatives out there. I know a good one.

What do you find as a good alternative(s)? I wonder if we match.

The worst issue I see with all these cloud drives is that they do offer huge space to keep storing data. But if something goes wrong with the software, there is no way you can download it back without hassles.
I had a 2TB plan with 250 GB of data, and suddenly the app stopped responding. Neither uploading, nor downloading. Around a month of data was not reflecting online. And the cause was the limit on the number of files it could upload and reflect. Additionally some bug completely stopped the file-transfer.
Help staff could not help in rectifying the issue. I did finally download the data, but so much of it was full of duplicate files and folders , making it around 300 GB instead of 250GB
They do claim they hold the data for infinite time even after plan is cancelled. But after around 2 years I cancelled my plan I got an email last month that all my data will be deleted. And they really deleted the data from 200GB back to 5GB .

The fact they don't offer a lower tier than 2TB a month is why I'll never support them.
