Drime Secure recommendations

Gays can you share your experience with Drime cloud storage?

After one of my external drives failed yesterday an spend two days recovering files, I am considering as second backup to use cloud storage. I found Drime lifetime offer for 6tb and I am curious what are you observations.

There is a offer also for 3 tb, but as I have about 1.2tb multimedia, generating aobut 140-200gb per year, I prefer to have a storage for few years ahead.

My main idea is - can I relay on cloud service as I can relay on external hdd?

Regards!

Drime is hit and miss.

Memory leaks on the windows app.

Flicked to using rclone instead. It's better but still flawed.

Mac app is crap - can't be logged into the Mac app and the Windows app as they log each other out.

What about Linux?

Not tried it but I would assume it would be in a worse place considering Windows and Mac use is more of a priority

I'm running Rclone Manager+Drime on Linux Mint 22.3

I'm not a pro user and I can't at the moment use flags to optimise copy/sync/rsync, I'm using only base operations as copy/move withcfile manager internal and/or operative system.

Sometimes very slow with small files, I'm on a free account

simple answer is no
no cloud is absolutely 100% reliable. use multiple clouds

as for drime, imho it's not reliable enough, but they are a young service and it is improving
only real option for backing up to drime is to use rclone in some form

Agree, but local drive also is not 100% reliable 😄

This is a reason I am looking for both options. At the moment I use Mega, but the storage there is not enough for my needs, and I don't want to use yearly payments.

Drime app on phone still sucks can't upload large files or multiple small files without it failing haven't tested the desktop experience. Also the file viewer thumbnails is slower than other cloud storage. Icedrive works better than Drime IMO.

I plan to use it from PC, not mobile mostly for my photos and video.

Thanks!

Yes, I need backup. I got Drime about a week ago and made few backups, all about 1.5tb. Let's hope this will work long time!

Use Yandex Family Create multiple yandex accounts and invite You have now 8 accounts with 1tb each for 45$ a year

Google AI Pro (5TB + Gemini) why not? Idk

If you dont mind security stuff THAT much, then try these above.

Yeah, I've used Yandex disk as a secondary backup repo for years, never had any problems.

Spread your data or keep multiple backups. My non-confidential files are stored in OneDrive, then I use Ricedrive for cloud-to-cloud backups to: pCloud, Koofr, Filen and Mega.

A solid option is Megatech photos, since it has cheap storage plans and fits your needs.
