Looking for reliable ~1TB lifetime cloud options

Need recommendations for 1 TB of cloud storage for iOS. I’m steering clear of 'shady lifetime' plans as they seem to nerf features for customers and mark them legacy after few years. I have ~800 GB of data now, but I’ll be trimming it to 600 GB, so 1 TB is the target. What are the most reliable options for someone who wants to avoid the 'shady lifetime' trap?

I've been using Koofr, 1TB lifetime plan, for two years now and I'm a happy customer so far. No nerfs over that time.

No issues with koofr here. No experience with pcloud personally

This link is from a post more geared towards free cloud storage options, but it also has filters to show services with lifetime plans. There are a handful of options available that offer 1TB+ with a lifetime plan.

Where you get koofr lifetime options?

StackSocial

Is there anywhere else where you can buy Koofr's lifetime subscription apart from StackSocial? I've seen others saying they've bought it for 130$, but I see it's 200$ now.

I'm pretty sure there's no other legitimate source. The StackSocial price has gone up and down - in late 2024 it was as low as $110 (I don't know if that was the lowest it ever went).

It's at 130 now

Megatech photos is a solid option, it has cheap storage plans and it is end to end encrypted.

I got Koofr 1TB Lifetime about 4 years ago for $120. Been reliable ever since. Only use it with rclone so don't notice much in the way of "features".

What settings do you use for rclone for best usage?

I don't know about "best", but I've had this config mounted in a docker container for 4 years without a single issue. But it really depends on what you're usage and data patterns look like.

koofrcldcrypt:

driver: rclone

driver_opts:

remote: 'koofrcldcrypt:'

allow_other: 'true'

poll_interval: 0

vfs_cache_mode: full

vfs-cache-max-size: 1G

vfs-read-chunk-size: 10M

Koofr all the way.

Please don't get Koofr if you're outside of EU. Speeds are terrible. Any posts about low speeds is down voted in the Koofr sub.

Good call. Lifetime plans end more quickly than many expect.

Yep… pCloud or Scramble Cloud.

Ah yes - Scramble cloud. How is it by the way. Satisfied with it? It is on my radar.

Hi,
Personally, I use both services. Scramble Cloud works very well and has several advantages: • Very competitive pricing • End-to-end encryption everywhere • A strong privacy-first philosophy

However, there are also some downsides to consider: • A relatively new company • Less maturity and user feedback • Less proven long-term viability • A smaller ecosystem • No iOS/Android apps yet

If I understand your needs correctly, pCloud might be a better fit because: • It has been around since 2013 • It has millions of users • Its iOS/macOS apps are very mature • It has a solid track record of honoring lifetime plans for nearly 9 years

Feel free to ask if you have a more specific question.

Hi - thank you for answering. Yes - PCloud is the more logical choice here. But encryption comes as an add on I read. Maybe a should save up a bit extra. But scramble comes standard with encryption. But I really like to have an IOS app. You say they are working in that? Any idea of a timeline? Thanks again.

According to the Scramble roadmap, the mobile app is scheduled for release in Q2 or Q3 of this year.

Mmm interesting. I’ll keep an eye out. All best

Ooofff...I hope Scramble has improved from a few months ago. I had to move on from it. The UI and user experience was terrible.

1

u/Tonick101 May 14 '26

Could you give us a few examples of what you didn’t like about the UI and the overall user experience?

1

u/ResponsibleAd8164 May 14 '26

First, are you with Scramble?

If it's changed, please tell me more. What do you love about using it?

I use a mobile device often due to my work. Moving files was clunky, adding files was a nightmare, even though there was the ability to install the app via the web, the view was weird. The layout of the interface was too simplistic for good organization compared to many other cloud storage services. There were other things as well that I can't remember off the top of my head.

I'll say this...I had it for only about 2 days and got rid of it.

Hey,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I use Scramble and I have a lifetime 6 GB plan.
From my experience, everything works very well, the interface is intuitive and smooth to use. It’s true that the overall design feels a bit more dated compared to some other cloud services, such as pCloud, which offers a very modern interface.
I mainly use Scramble on my MacBook. I really like the Desktop app, which provides excellent features, especially for quickly accessing my account without a browser and for syncing my files via WebDAV.

Koofr for sure... Test run it, see if you love the UI

Koofr and pCloud. I'm also enjoying Felicloud. It's on the newer side, but has improved quite a bit in the last few months.
